The tar is only allowed to go up so far from the bottom of the bat. They use the width of the plate to measure from the bottom of the bat. If the tar is higher on the bat than the width of the plate, the bat is not approved for play.

That's a reference to Sherlock Holmes, by the way, so you don't need to comment "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle" to point out the painfully obvious thing I was referring to. And if your justification is that not everybody watches South Park and won't catch the Randy Marsh reference, my argument is that a curious person could have googled it and learned for themselves. An incurious person wouldn't have read or cared about the comment. What I'm saying is that you're comment served no purpose but to enrage a pedantic asshole like me.

In MLB if a manager of either team has a problem with the officiating and feels there was a call blown against them that they feel could effect the outcome of the game, they have the ability to call a "Protest". The game continues as normal, however, MLB will review the game and make a ruling. Virtually no protest has ever resulted in an overturn, despite how bad the call was.

This is so right. The 1st strike was in the left-handed batter's box. The Ump called it a strike only after Lawrie headed to 1st base in advance of the call itself. It was all about the Ump having and enunciating control over the situation. Then the 2nd pitch was going to be a strike no matter what. The ump should've been immediately retired. Lawrie did better than I would have in the circumstance.

@@benflikeid962 What are you talking about? Seager asked the ump for time and Weaver started jawing at him about it, so they got into a little argument. Batters asking the ump for time is extremely common. Weaver didn't have to be such a pussy about it and then throw at him on top of it.

What Weaver should've done. Get ready to pitch. Once the batter puts his hand down, proceed to throw the ball to the 1st baseman. Get the ball back, say "You ready to play now??" Then the moment the batter puts his hand up again, throw to 1st again. Keep repeating until the batter knows how much of a jackass he's being. You're in the box, NO TIMEOUTS GIVEN.

Link Smash they expect the world because of there money and little league sized ballpark. Shameful for the fans to be so demanding after winning 27 titles (bought most of them) especially in the first full week or two of the season. It’s almost a cop out to be a stankees fan. It’s like taking the easy way out because they can go and get the best talent on the market every year. That’s why it’s a celebration whenever they miss the playoffs. It’s like David slew Goliath, or some Star Wars reference about the Death Star....You get it
