2011-2016 Ford Super Duty Sync 3 Upgrade Install

This instructional video shows how easy it is to remove the old factory My Ford Touch or Sync 2 system out of a 2011 to 2016 Ford F250 or F350 Super Duty truck. The new Sync 3 system is version 3.4 and is compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The unit must be programmed to your VIN number prior to installation. Is there an aftermarket replacement for these turds? My 15 F250 has had 2 Sony/Sync units replaced in it under warranty, and it's out again. I am not paying for another pile of crap. I can't turn my heated cooled seats on or off, I can't tune anything using the touch screen at all. They are complete junk.

Are you sure this works for the 2011? Mine has a completely different trim and other places I've contacted said there is no upgrade path from a 2011 to Sync3. If there is I'd love to do it.

@@mitrals you know what would cause the sync button to not work after this install? Also seek buttons on steering wheel don’t work now. Heated steering wheel button on screen works but the actual steering wheel heater won’t work now. Lastly the sound settings (treble/mid/bass) won’t stay where you put them. I have IDS and forscan l, can I fix this with one of them?

@@mitrals well depends I guess. It was supposed to be programmed to my truck when I got it. Not so much. I’m a Ford tech so no stranger to sync/APIM bs daily. Used forscan to enable climate seat controls, heated steering wheel control, and everything else that applied to my 16 F350 Platinum. It took, and everything works except, seek buttons on steering wheel(FCIM seek buttons work and volume buttons on wheel) Media button on wheel doesn’t work Voice control button on wheel doesn’t work You can turn heated wheel on using the screen, but it won’t actually come on. The eq/sound setting don’t adjust, they just bounce back to the middle. Same with speed/volume setting. Blower speed adjustments don’t display when you change them but that no big deal. Same with volume adjustments.
