Replacing the camshaft position sensor on a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta with 2.0 L liter engine.
After getting the ODB II code P0340 or P0341:
- P0340 is an OBD-II diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a problem within your Jetta’s CPS circuit.
- P0341 ODB II code indicates that camshaft position sensor (CPS) readings do not correspond to powertrain control module (PCM) specifications. This difference often involves the number of pulses that are detected during a certain number of engine revolutions.
These are caused by an issue with the wiring harness going to the camshaft position sensor (CPS) or the camshaft position sensor itself.
This is the same engine in a 2011-2017 2.0 Volkswagen engine.
On some Volkswagen 2.0L engines it’s hard to get to this sensor. Other Volkswagen 2.0L engines it’s at the number four cylinder in the head, but on this 2.0L engine it’s behind the camshaft pulley and belt. The belt must be removed and the camshaft gear has to be removed to access the sensor.
This is a long and detailed video because the difficulty of the repair. Not recommended for novice mechanic.
