2011 - 2018 Dodge Caravan Speaker Access and Locations

In this video, I point out the locations of the speakers in a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. I show how to access them as well. I also include how to remove the dash trim around the radio. Overall it's a pretty easy process, and knowing where to look makes even simpler.
I believe this process will also work for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 models as well.

In case anyone is wanting to replace the rear speakers in a 2011 - 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan, don't get a speaker with a big magnet on it because it will not fit, the magnet hits the outside panel before it is flush in the hole

You can fit speakers with bigger magnets in the front doors but you will have to cut away a little metal on one side, just make sure you cut the metal from the door and not from the window guide rail

@@joep6500 make sure theres no gaps between the speaker though, you don't want both sound waves (front and back) to interfere with each other, you will have no low end at all.

This is the most informative video I have found on YT re pulling and replacing the panels to access all speakers. The one question I never see addressed is regarding the back pillar speaker / tweeter locations. Mine has the non premium "no oem sub / amp" system so I about to replace front and back with component speakers. Wondering what I will find re tweeter mounting options in the back with fingers crossed.

The Infinity Reference 3.5" 3022 or 3032 fit in the dash. If you only replace these it probably has the biggest impact. Replaced the side ones and ordered another pair to do the center. Really brings alive the higher frequencies to balance out all the bass from the 6x9's in the walls and the sub, you may have to lower the treble to balance it out after based on how the stock eq is set. Didn't use harnesses just gently shoved 16ga speaker wire into the clip harness and taped with good electrical tape to hold, then crimped on spade connectors to slide onto the speaker leads. Pretty simple.

Thanks for the support! As for replacements, the sky is the limit depending on your power. I think the uConnect system is the handsfree module that allows you to connect your stereo to your phone. Your head unit or your amplifiers are what gives the power. I like to use about 20% more power than the speaker is rated to reduce distortion. Pioneer makes pretty good affordable upgrades that will run off a stock head unit. I had Hertz 6x9s in all four spots in mine but I was pushing it with about 200 watts per speaker. Crutchfield Audio ( www.crutchfield.com ) is a great resource for radios, amplifiers, and speakers.

I have the Nav radio with the 509 watt amp and subwoofer in back. Crutchfield has speaker replacements for all the speakers. But the center speaker they offer is ridiculously high! After market speaker are usually more efficient.

Very informative video so thank you on that I want to know if you know how to install the subwoofer and amp on a 2013 Chrysler Town and country touring van that doesn't have the subwoofer and amp in the rear will that be something simple to install if it doesn't have one but it does have the rear subwoofer pocket to fit the subwoofer box would that be something that can be done if so would you be able to show a video on that or if you know if there is a video on that already thanks!

What about the town and country? 2011-2016? i bought a 2012 town and country touring L with all options so mine has 3 speakers in the dash at the windshield. One in each door so 4 and 2 in the rear like this video I believe there is 2 tweeters in the rear as well. It’s a total of 12 speakers in all if I’m not mistaken. It sounds so good it don’t need a replacement on anything at all. It sounds like your sitting in a movie theatre while watching the DVD player through the speakers instead of the headphones. It had the upgraded options like heated steering wheel seats, auto dimming headlights and wipers automatically turn on/off or faster/slower. They just put all brand new Firestone Destination tires on it and alignment was performed. It’s only got 66k miles, clean title, it’s a a one owner, garage kept, all maintenance records from the dealership. The headlights look like brand new never used looking. Everything is mint on it. I love it. Retail is 13,500 to 14,800 I only gave $4960 for it. I lucked up big time! With all that said I’m wandering why I don’t have the factory subwoofer. They are listed for 160 online. 2012 town and country subwoofer! But I don’t know if mine has the power to push it. I know mine has to have an amplifier though.

I would think the third speaker is a center channel that would be accessible when you take of the top dash part to get to the small speakers by the windshield. Sorry for the delayed response, I just saw this! Good Luck!

@@ryanthius thanks yeah it’s got the middle dash speaker due to the upgrade package they bought for this van. They bought the whole package but I’m confused not on the center dash speaker but I seen where it says an upgraded system might have a subwoofer in the rear compartment but I don’t think mine does even though there’s 3 in the dash one in each door and one on each side of the rear plus tweeters in the pillars. It has little slots where they are I may have a total of 4 tweeters. It’s got a factory amp for sure I just was curious as to why it wouldn’t have a factory subwoofer if it’s the upgraded system .

@@br4jar Select your vehicle on the crutchfield website and it will show you where the sub is. It's in the wall panel lower down, in the trunk on the driver side. Turn on some music and put your head there and you'll know if you have it or not.

Do you know who the manufacturer of the stock speakers are? I am looking to upgrade my system and am considering JBL components. Also, is there an connections to add an external amp to the deck?

I don't know the original manufacturer of the stock speakers, sorry. I think the Stock stereo just has normal outputs. I don't recall any RCA outputs that would be better for an amplifier, You would be better off with an aftermarket stereo, but some amps allow for "speaker wire" inputs as well.. I don't own the vehicle any more so I can't check for you. Good luck though, I'm sure some JBLs would sound nice.

I have the touch screen Uconnect system. It doesn't go up very loud and I believe all the speakers work. Not near as loud as an aftermarket system. If I wanted an aftermarket system I would have to use a kit to retain the backup camera and steering wheel controls okay great. But the system is integrated with the VIN number which also has my SiriusXM subscription. I would have to call SiriusXM and pay them money to switch over to the new unit. Okay great now how do I play DVDs on the rear screen what I have to hook up the AV jacks and the back output of the system? Probably. Would it play DVDs on the rear screen? Probably. But there's AV input and an HDMI input in the back of the vehicle. When the vehicle is in park you can broadcast video from the back of the vehicle to the main head unit when the vehicle is shifted to Park. Can you do this with an aftermarket system? Possibly not. With all of this Factory functionality designed as one system by Dodge, I'm pretty sure you would have to give up something. Also backseat passengers can share the system with you as they can listen to FM on headphones while you listen to Sirius or vice versa from the rear screen . There is no way you would be able to hook up an aftermarket system exactly like this.. The dealer wants it to be a headache for you to swap out this system. Just like apple they want you to buy you a new one from them if something goes wrong. This particular van has the simpler system without The Back-up Camera. Also my model doesn't come with navigation and Dodge has one that has it but to upgrade you can't just do it yourself you have to go to a dealer and get your VIN number put into it for probably several hundred dollars and it's the exact same system just passed navigation added to it. Probably goes to the max volume of 38 and maxes out with the bass and sounds like crap. I don't know what happened after 2010 but it seems like when cars started getting touch screens their systems started sounding like garbage. I would love to have a Kenwood system or a Pioneer system. And the phone system is terrible. Every time you hang up....."PHONE-CALL COMEPLETED!!!" Everybody walking out of Walmart and knows you just got off the phone. Want to make a phone call on an earpiece but don't want to completely unpair your phone from the radio? Talking on the phone with an earpiece everything is fine. Turn the key on and start the vehicle you better have your phone in your hand ready to hit the Bluetooth button. You'll be in the middle of your conversation go straight to the radio okay Switchback to the earpiece. Nope the radio does it again you have to tell the person to hold on. Also use the Bluetooth system for music. Great for music but not for watching a KZbin video way way out of sync you have to run an auxiliary cord if you want to use your speakers for video not only that but the music Gets behind too. I don't know what Dodge was thinking building this lousy system. If you want to update the software good luck looked everywhere online but this is a 2014 they probably got the big ten inch screen now and they probably no longer update the system

@@Taino137 All good! I threw a couple of 4 channel amps on a mount in the very back rear drivers side jack compartment (hidden) and ran the main 6 speakers with a sub bridged off the last 2 channels. It sounded awesome!

I just checked my set and is definitely says 16 on it, BUT I compared it to another set I have and the T-15 looks VERY similar, it may work if you have one of those.
