My friend's 2012 Kia Soul stop charging the battery. He already had the alternator and battery replaced at a shop for the same reason. Now at work the car again was not charging and it dead. I checked it out and there was no rust anywhere. Removed the negative cable from the battery and from where it was bolted to chasy ground. It turned out that the ground was bad because it was painted where the ground was bolted. Cleaned the paint away and the car is now charging.

I think this may be my exact issue. New battery and alternator but that fuse you showed looks burnt so ima check that immediately. Not a car guy but that’s my bet

Update. So when I went to clean that part. Up under my battery fuse it was completely warped and burnt. It was 20 bucks to replace the part. I replaced it myself. Cars running like new… we’ll back to normal again.

Had the same issue. Replace the $10 part and alternator starts to charge my battery. Thanks.

We have a 2015 kia sedona and i just put a brand new battery and alternator in it and it is still not charging. I rven put the multimeter directly on the power hook up post at the alternator and still not charging. It is raining out pretty good right now but i will check that fuse. Wpuld that stop the alternator from charging the battery? And not put out voltage even at the alternator post? Ok it stopped raining for a few, fuse is good and i took the connector apart and cleaned it all up and still a no go

i tok the the small wire on the negative and disconnect it and put back in plus i took some contact cleaner on the alternator and now i get 14 V :)

@@dennisrasmussen8632 mine is all good now. I kept returning alternators until I got one that worked. Went through 2 at oriellys and 2 at Autozone

I had a really odd problem with my car battery, if you have a vehicle with that wiring harness, don't put a felt anti corrosive pad between it and the battery mine worked loose and I lost my power steering lucky enough I got it back 3 seconds later

The felt washer is not the problem. If ur battery posts are not wide enough to be tightened properly by the terminals then u need to use battery shims

If the fuse is piped you won't have 12 v at alternator positive wire

For optima 2014 2.4 Lx model same issue although my positive terminal was loose too and wouldn’t tighten but changed battery and car started but Now battery light comes on when I brake at a light or sitting idled & DISAPPEARS again when on highway going straight or pressing gas pedal with sometimes the steering light coming on! since issue started with my loose terminal connection not tightening on previous battery, could the issue have something to do with this the positive terminal so far it starts fine no issue doesn’t seem to drain with new battery but headlights are seemingly dim tho! What could be the issue ? Thanks
