How much would I love to have conversation with Joan….being “survivor” of 35 years of teaching junior high vocal music with an emphasis on jazz, I bet we’d have a lot to discuss….Joan embodies every concept that I believe is important in teaching. One can only hope that one of those kids in his program will step up and continue this program whenever Joan decides to hang it up.

Me encanta escuchar Jazz y Bossanova.

Andrea is (as always) in top form musically, but here she manages to not only play great and have fun dancing, but also looks gorgeous. What is really amazing to me is that when this took place, she was only sixteen! She really is outrageously talented -- I hope to keep hearing from her for a long, long time. (and props to Joan, he is truly a world-class educator and musical coach!)

These were the very first videos of Andrea I saw (by pure luck) 6 years ago. Apart from her obvious musicality, I was blown away by her quiet confidence in herself, she seems so totally relaxed and is enjoying herself, a 16 year old performing before a huge audience! I was directed to some of the tunes from "Live at Jamboree" recorded around 2 years later and just posted by Joan Chamorro. On this album Andrea is stunning, her voice deeper and richer, her poise and maturity, her trumpet so subtle and delicate, her musicality perfect, and she looks stunning too and she is still only 17. What else can one do but become a life long fan?

I believe, "Our Love Is Here To Stay," written by George Gershwin in 1938, presents the essential music of (Get Your Kicks On) Route 66, accredited to Bobby Troup in 1946, songwriter and husband of one of the best Popular Jazz Singers, Julie London. Such a wonderful variation on a theme is to be enjoyed and applauded. "Vive La Difference."
