Question after replacing the injector do you have to calibrate the injector with a scanner or you don't have to

@ballston how long did the job take you? Thanks for such a great video!!!

Does injector need to be coded after replacement? Also are those de couplers the same as fuel injector o-rings?

I appreciate the video.

When you installed the injector, how could you tell it is fully seated?
@JRudd3 жыл бұрын
Note to those with really stuck injectors, whose extractor like this did not work: Order a diesel injector extractor from Amazon for $25. The injector thread size is M12, so make sure it’s in your package.

Do you have a link bro?
@JRudd2 жыл бұрын
@@eyeral.8838 The link may be bad, so search for ABN Diesel injector puller tool with slide hammer. Make sure an M12 adapter is included.

@@JRudd did this tool work for you? Mine is super rusted and siezed up. I’m soaking it in penetrating oil now. If this tool works ABN injector tool removal I will buy it
@JRudd Жыл бұрын
@@koobmoua3751 Yes the ABN diesel injector puller tool worked. Definitely soak it in penetrating oil, this will make it easier. The tool should come with a few thread adaptors. Mine was seized as well and it took a few weeks before I found this solution. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

whatever you do... don't get a cheap tool. Get a good one! CTA tools makes a really good one. These cheapo units from ebay made from chinesium will bend and cylinder thread will give away... Also, follow BMW's torque specs when working with any bolts on the head. Its made out of aluminum. If you strip the threads by over-tightening, you will be in a world of pain.

I used that tool but the head snapped off instead of injector coming out. Oh well.

did the bad injector caused a fuel smell in the cabin, and did you have to code the injector after install?
@ballstondiy21014 жыл бұрын
I did not code the injectors, I just tried to match up the numbers closest to the numbers of ones removed. Engine ran so much better after replacement. I was getting some odors in cabin before injector change, almost a burnt coolant smell. Went away after change.

What is the build date of your X5? I have a 2011 X5 as well and want to make sure I purchase the correct injector model.
@ballstondiy21014 жыл бұрын
I sold the 2011, got an f15 diesel. So I don’t have build date info but I seem to recall it was Nov 2011.

I had the same problem. Shine a flashlight on the injector and try to match the numbers you see with the options available at FCP Euro.

Fuel Injector Tool eBay Item ID: 262879139492 I had a little trouble finding the same silver color steel puller online. Many look to be aluminum. I pulled the item id# from my order, I don’t know if the supplier changed materials. Aluminum might work for you if yours aren’t stuck like my two rear ones were (severely). Also keep in mind N55 puller tool mount locations changed a couple times from one year to the next so make sure you get the right tool.

@@ballstondiy2101 hey did the description of the tool mention steel built as well? I got one from Amazon and it's aluminum, like you said they all look the same, so hard to tell. I got my cyl 6 off incredibly easily and it's quite dirty but couldn't get cyl5 off at all. I feel the thread location is not correct for 5 that it's tilted when it's connected. I couldn't quite wiggle it free as you showed in the video. I haven't applied pb blaster yet (in mail) only have wd40 at hand. Would that work as well? Heard it's penetrating property is not as good
@jessemartinez6781 Жыл бұрын
These BMWs X5 have a runoff of water from the windshield that soaks into cylinder 5 & 6. It rusts both injectors at the back of the firewall. Both of mine are so siezed even with this proper tool both my heads broke clean off. You do not want to mess with this believe me I have spent $$$$ with no luck at removing them. You are a million times better off buying the injectors through Amazon and taking to BMW.

You have an early 2011 n55 engine. You need a different tool where injectors and bracket bolts are lined up.

Hey what do you think is the source of water sitting near cyl 5 and 6? I recently replaced VCG and found quite a bit water (transparent thought it's water) sitting in that recess and a lot residue. The car was barely driven in the last yr. Btw did you end up changing that steel plug recess insert as well? (11127605104)

I think the water pooling is from the 3 plastic covers at rear of engine bay being broken or not sealing properly. I purchased new ones and replaced the originals. The originals seem to be glass fiber reinforced, the ones I bought from eBay are ABS and are more flexible so they should last longer without cracking.
@@ballstondiy2101 hey appreciate the link and reply. Read a bit online and ppl seems to be also pointing to that trim. Mine indeed was broken long ago, didn't make that connection
