This is my friend 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, this car at the time of this video has 83 thousand miles. This car was the last car of its kind because the last Crown Victorias to roll off the assembly line was on September 15th, 2011. This vehicle has been an icon thought out the years as it has served in the police departments thought out the United States.

Though the CV as an overall model has had a very long run, it’s important to note that the single longest generation version is by far, the final one: 1998-2011. 14 straight model years of the same iteration- what you called “The Whale”. The Aero was only 6 model years, 1992-1997. The LTD-CV box platform final version, 1988-1991. Before that, box platform 1979?-1987... close at 9 model years, but not quite the 14 of the final version. I do believe a 2011 is the best choice, because it’s the best of both worlds: the newest and most modern of an old school car.

The good thing about the 2011 if you could fill it full of 85 and get insane horsepower. My favorite is the 2003 though because it gets the best mpg and has the floor shifter like the Mercury marauder
@silicon212
@silicon212 3 жыл бұрын
The 1998-2011 only LOOKS the same throughout those years, to the untrained eye. These cars received three significant upgrades throughout that run - they got a new engine (higher power) in 2001, got completely redesigned steering and suspension in 2003, and got CANbus/DBW in 2005. Sheet metal is interchangeable through those years, but mechanically and electrically those three 'generations' of 'whales' stand apart from each other. I've owned an '09, worked on plenty of '09-'11 cars, currently own a 2005 (which incidentally, is my first Vic). Personally, I do not think the build quality of the 2009 plus models equals that of the older ones. I think the block mounted oil cooler they have is an improvement over the earlier in-line with the lower hose design, but from a build quality standpoint - the wire loom used on the engine harness disintegrates into dust upon touching it - the wire loom on my nearly 300k '05, which is original to the car, still looks newish. Paint is applied thinner and over all it just seems they have more issues than the older ones. It's my opinion but it's qualified from what I've seen.

I have a 2002 LSE grand marquis and the steering wheel is so damn loose nobody can fix it it's horrible
@silicon212
@silicon212 3 жыл бұрын
@@miamimagicians By loose, do you mean there is a lot of play in it, as in you turn it a bit before the steering starts to respond? If that's the case, look into the steering gear, the pitman arm, the center link, and the idler arm. Also the tie rod ends - if these are worn out this will cause that issue. Also, the rag joint may need to be replaced.

I purchased a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police interceptor in August for $8800 at 78,678 miles. This car was painted black, no middle console which I don't mind and doesn't have the search light on the driver side. I went to an O'Reilly's store and an ex sheriff told me that this belonged to a police chief and let me tell you, I believe her because the inside of this car, interior and exterior are super clean. Like unreal clean, like it rolled out the factory clean. The only problem is that it's leaking transmission fluid when parked on an incline, so I parked it on a more leveled ground. A problem I won't have for long. I love this car with all my heart and soul. And belive me she stays clean 24/7 365.

BTW, in 03, the frame rails were strengthened and rack and pinion steering was added. Keep up on the routine maintenance and that car will serve you well. Ford did actually make them for 2012 model year, however every one of them were sold over seas to Saudia Arabia. One of the reasons they stopped offering them here is most departments went to the suv as it is easier to get in and out of while wearing gear. So the demand dropped considerably.

Pull the plastic cover off between driver and rear door near floor and you will see a plug unplugged plug it in and rear windows work. Also trunk release switch located below, radio if you pull that trim piece off there is a empty plug this allows you to have trunk open only with key in accessories position or on the one I prefer is the constant power press button anytime engine on or off and trunk will open. This is on a 2011.

First time seeing this Video and I also own a 2010 CVPI. You were wrong about the radio antenna. It is not in the rear glass. It is located in the passenger side C Pillar, which is why most CVPI owners from like 2009 to 2011 install an external antenna. I put one in the trunk lid filling one of the holes from an antenna previously. Only the 2005 had a PS rear fender mounted radio antenna. that is probably where I will relocate the antenna.

I really like the all black ones over the all white ones. What a coincidence- I just bought mine on Jul 22, 2019; and it’s a 2011, all black with 85,000 miles on it. Pretty close to your mileage. But my engine idle hours are 8,900! Eeek! 😳 That’s the only bad part. I’m willing to bet your EIH’s are way lower than mine. Green valve stem caps? You really put nitrogen in those? Heard it’s a good idea, but the only drawback is you’re then beholden to return to the tire shop every time you need to refill them; unless you don’t mind mixing air with your nitrogen- which of course defeats the whole purpose.
@07kdriven
@07kdriven 5 жыл бұрын
Nitrogen is good because it does not change pressure during temperature changes unlike regular air!
@SnownelVEVO
@SnownelVEVO 4 жыл бұрын
Air is 78% nitrogen. "Pure" nitrogen will still lose pressure, just not as much. Unless you're only checking your tires once a decade you won't notice, and when you do, you'll have to go get them topped off with nitrogen anyway while I'll just break out the 12V air compressor and be done in a minute or so for free.
@ianmayer2951

Just try to put helium in your tires... I heard it saves you 5 mpg and your car floats in the air.
@hotrodray6802
@hotrodray6802 Жыл бұрын
A newly mounted tire has 1 atmosphere of ambient air in it already. Add 2 atmospheres of nitrogen pressure ..... You'll never have pure nitrogen..... It's the other gasses that change pressures with temp. That's great for an airplane with 300 psi going to 65*f below zero at 35,000 ft and then landing with cold tires. Mostly a $$$ ripoff for cars.

I found one in mint condition its a 2011 with 125k miles for $4500, thinking about buying it. Only thing I'm worried about is I've heard their transmissions aren't the most reliable. Anyone who's owned one have you had any problems with it? If so, how much does it cost to replace one on average (parts and labor) I'm in FL if that helps. Thanks.

The transmission is matched pretty well for this car. Unless you are trying to throw some serious power under the hood, simple maintenance will keep it running forever. As far as replacement goes, depending on your budget you can get a used transmission with labor included for around 1200-1500. You’re paying for labor more than anything. Hope it helps

@@Nesto131 Thanks, I ended up buying a 2008 with 120k miles like 6 months ago. I'm at 143k miles (I drive a lot) - 0 issues so far. I've owned 2 lexus and a toyota 4runner but this vic is my favorite vehicle so far!

Everything is under the hood and the transmission keep it the way it is , and make it new , that's what I would do Along with just making look like Grandma's car , I wouldn't want nobody thinking it was a former police car , And it would be a wonderful sleeper , 😁😁
