2011 Ford Fiesta cold start noise 1

2011 Ford Fiesta SES auto trans unknown noise on cold start. Does not vary with engine RPM, moving the steering wheel, into or out of gear. The noise starts 5-30 seconds after cold start and lasts 20seconds - 2 min usually. It occasionally has started again while driving but not normally.

On mine it was a failing radiator fan. Thankfully a very easy and cheap diy replacement. Like 60 bucks maybe for me and 5 dollar torx screw for the airbox. Hope you got this resolved

Well the ticking is normal but that grinding sound is most likely a piston or two rubbing against the wall of the manifold, and i hear it working for a few seconds then it just goes and rubs

The Bear It was the electric fan going out. Replaced it and sound is gone.

did you ever find out what that noise is? mine is doing the same thing

This turned out to be the electric radiator fan. For some reason it wasn’t consistent but it usually happened on cold start with the defrost on. I got the new fan from Rockauto.com for under $100 and it took about 45min with no special tools
