Excellent video. My only thing I'd do differently would be putting the oil cap back on while working under the hood. Don't wanna chance anything accidentally falling down there

Excellent video with details. I wanted to change the spark plugs on my Terrain 2.4L, but had no clue how to remove all the fancy plastic, and this video is a great help. Good Job !

That condensation caused me a big headache one morning. Temp dropped to 15 degrees and water froze in an elbow and wouldn’t let crankcase vent. It blew the rear main seal out. It was covered under a bulletin. However, they didn’t change a damn thing to prevent this from happening again. I put a vented oil cap on it. Now to address this miss in this thing. This video is very informative! Thanks, Randy Chandler

Did you use a f219 vented cap? I also installed a oil catch can on my terrain.

Very helpful video, even though I intend to do light repairs and detailing to my terrain's engine; cleaning, change the filter, topping off the refrigerant tank and add injector cleaner into the tank. For the most advanced repairs, I'd go to a high rated auto/body shop in my area or dealership that services my vehicle's brand.

have your dealer or mechanic clean your throttle body. I have a 2012 SLE Terrain and it was stalling, all they did was clean out my throttle body and runs great. Check out chrisfix videos for detailing a car engine be careful lots of electronics under the hood these days.

I have a 2012 GMC Terrain SLE 4cy and it idles rough and jumps acts like it wants to jump forward while I have my foot on the brake. Was going to change the throttle body but I’m going to see if it that works. I’ going to change the spark plugs, air filter and add fuel injector cleaner to it too!

I'm not a mechanic but would like to do these plugs by my self. But my question is by changing the plugs will it idle smoother?
@TraceLight4 жыл бұрын
You will notice a difference in idle if your previous spark plugs were getting dirty. If you change them and they are nice and clean, that’s not what is causing the rough idle. Still, I’d change them.
@kingb81632 жыл бұрын
Going off my experience. I had rough idle. And my terrain would stall sometimes at idle. I had my intake manifold replaced, a throttle body cleaning, and a idle air relearn.
@Blackhawk556.2 жыл бұрын
@@kingb8163 my terrain has rough idle right now. I had code P0011 intake manifold. Do you think this is why my car idles really bad once it’s hot and I’m at stop? If I put it in neutral the idling goes back to normal. I’ve also cleaned the throttle body and the mass airflow sensor.
@joehawthorn3018 Жыл бұрын
@@Blackhawk556. Check the oil level, low oil can cause rough idle and P011. These terrians can use up oil faster if you drive at speeds over 100 KM/H

They have coil packs right on top of the plugs. No reason to change the coil pack unless it fails.
@CristoEsRey77 жыл бұрын
Are the plugs pre-gapped? Do you do this with the engine warm or cold?
@joehawthorn3018 Жыл бұрын
Acdelco should come gapped. Be careful if you use gauges to check gap because there is a coating on the spark plug. Also do not recommend using anti seize on thread, as they already have a zinc coating and using any anti seize will affect the torque reading. Do NOT over torque these plugs. If you break the plug boy you have a problem. Before removing plugs use compressed air around plug area , get it cleaned to prevent anything falling into hole as plug comes out. Amazon these plugs are $15 + tax cdn... Silicone inside the plug wire boot is good.
@joehawthorn3018 Жыл бұрын
Also if you run engine for 2 to 3 minutes could removing spark plug easier.

Is this how GM really does it? Just "snug em' up"? No torque specs? I saw a couple people on youtube say the spark plugs are torqued to 15 ft.lbs., but I haven't heard a single person or source stating what the ignition coil-on-plug bolt should be torqued to. I'm guessing like 8 ft.lbs. Would be nice for GM to at least pretend to respect it's customers by giving us the torque specs. Does basically no one do simple maintenance anymore, except for like ex-mechanics? Seriously GM.............
