When I push the uconnect button it says "not equipped with uconnect" how can I change this?

Whenever I press the phone button, nothing happens. My guess is that it's faulty due to it's age

My 2014 wrangler sport doesn’t have uconnect so I have to use a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the 12 volt

WHY doesn't my 2011 sahara have uconnect capablilities? Never mentioned to me at the dealership that you have to buy the connection. Not a great move by JEEP.
