Thanks for posting this. I suspected the resistor/relay was the problem because it this was happening for a couple of years. It wouldn't work for about 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. It would then be good with no issues. Your video showed me exactly where to find it under the glove compartment. Rock Auto is a perfect parts source for DIY'ers not wanting to buy "new" parts for an older vehicle. Thanks again!!

Thank you for sharing, super helpful! Was trickier but more or less the same procedure on a 2013 optima with the same issue. Perfect video if not for the rambling ;-)

Thank you so much for this video. The fix on an Optima 2010 LX is basically the same procedure.

My blower went out today, (2014 Optima) and I went to 3 auto parts places and had to order it (relay). Supposed to be delivered tomorrow for pick up. Hope it works, but will let you know. Thanks for the tips.

I had a faulty compressor and I replaced several units (radiator, condenser, compressor and control unit, but I should have tried this first. It's usually best to try the cheapest solution. If this resistor solved it, please let me.

I'm having the same problem. It's like my vents slowly become choked off and nothing comes out (hot or cold). And when I open the hood, me low ac line has high frost on the exposed metal.

Did y’all ever find a solution to this? I replaced the blower and resistor. Worked for a couple days then stopped.

Any idea what it means if you get no air blowing on all 4 settings? Probably the actual blower motor went..right?

Mine wasn't blowing at all. Once I unplugged the resistor, the highest speed came on but the lower speeds were still dead. Then I did the procedure in the video and replaced withe new resistor and the other speeds came back on. So try just unplugging it first before replacing it. If the highest speed comes on, then you just need to replace the resistor to get the other 3 speeds. If you don't care about the lower speeds, i suppose you could just drive it around with either no air, or high speed air.

I have a 2013 Kia Optima and the vents aren’t switching from defroster to side vents. Any idea what the problem could be?

it's a stubby screwdriver. A chubby is something completely different.
