I like to thank you for taking time to show 2011 lincoln MKS. There are not many videos showing how to work on 2010, 2011 MKSes.

Torque specs: control arm ball joint 24mm 148 lb/ft(will need crowsfoot for torque wrench or interchangeable head torque wrench), for bushing with 2 bolts they need torqued to 73 lb/ft. The other bushing needs preloaded before tightening and torqued to 136 lb/ft. For the sway bar links the upper nut needs torqued to 111 lb/ft (if joint starts spinning, hold nut with 21mm wrench and torque 10mm stud instead or use crowsfoot along with 10mm wrench to prevent from spinning) and the lower connected to the sway bar needs torqued to 41 lb/ft (will need crowsfoot again) I hope this helps. Also, if changing lower control arms on both sides, I'd recommend replacing the sway bar bushings since they are easier to remove without the control arm bushing in the way, but can still be done just more clearance issues and you'll need to get creative.

In steady of cutting off the lower sway link I used my impact gun. On the nut. Once it broke free and started just spinning I put a wrench on that Nut then switched my impact to a 10mm and spun it in forwards to walk the nut off. Workers good. But you need the sway link disconnected at the to on both sides first so you can rotate to bar in a position to let you get the gun in. I used a 6 inch extension as well.

Thank you for the video. I like doing my own work but always need a good reference so I have a gameplan going in since I'm not a mechanic. Just someone who can't afford to Pay people for things I can do... this is the video I'm going to use when I knock the control arms out. Again, highly appreciated. Thank you for the valuable knowledge. You saved me a bunch (940$) and probably many others.

Video also applies to the ford taurus 2010 through 2019. Also I gotta do both my front lower control arms this weekend. I also wear gearwrench impact work gloves to avoid any knuckle busting lol fingers crossed it goes smoothly

Wow it’s intense how much being just a little north changes things. I live in the Kansas City area and we still have winter and salt but only once or twice a year do the crews actually come out. Things aren’t rust free by any means, but I can get ford sway bar links off old Escapes and things all day long. Rust belt is no joke.

On the sway link at least the upper one. You can put your wrench on the bolt and then put a ten mill on your impact gun and then you can send the gun forward with the wrench on the nut and it will spin the post and pour the nut off that way

Never use a u-joint with an impact wrench. The pin will always walk out and destroy the u-joint. You should always use a proper swivel socket or swivel joint.

Thanks for the video. I too have a Lincoln 2011 MKS and I figured the clunking was the sway bars and the control arm, replace those, replace the hubs rotors rear shocks struts are okay and lo and behold I still hear that God damn clanking. Mechanics are stumped they don't know what it can be somebody said it could be some sort of body mount. I am at my wit's end it drives smooth and a smooth road but hit a bump and you hear a clunk. Appreciated if you have any idea what it could be. Thanks.
@AnythingAuto

And did they say if the mounts were good also
@zodx19
@zodx19 Жыл бұрын
@@AnythingAuto they didn't check the body mounts that I know of they check the exhaust all the way up to the catalytic converter. The only thing I have not replaced is the rear control arms. The clunking seems to be more in the rear now I guess I'm not quite sure I only have one good ear and it's hard to distinguish.
