I had the pleasure of going to the NCAA championships at Madison Square Garden this year. Went to the consolation and semi's. It was very cool!!

JB was right. There were points left on the table. JB could have tech’d him. I bet that’s a short list (tech in the NCAA finals).

Who would of thought that an offensive minded wrestler can win a national title in wrestling. Makes you want to watch… then you look at the top teams and their wrestlers and they put you to sleep again. But that’s how the rules have been set up, to benefit the least amount of offense.
@metou30724 жыл бұрын
first I know that its easier said than done...im not dumping on Caldwell because he is obviously a damn good wrestler to be in the NCAA finals... as a sophomore especially...I think his ego might have cost him on the win possibly because he didn't study and do enough homework on Jordan because of his own success on his way to the finals...at least that's what it looks like from an outsider looking in from someone that was a pretty decent wrestler also.....its impossible to stop Jordan from getting a hold of your leg or legs all the time...its gonna happen...watch Caldwells center of mass compared to Jordan when he shoots..and watch what he does with his arms and hands when Jordan shoots on him and Jordan only has his hands on Caldwells ass and or thigh/s...he tries to grab around jordans waist and chest area while leaning towards Jordan...he definitely knows what leverage is and how important it is in wrestling...his only chances of stopping a takedown is by removing 1 or both of Jordan's arms with a underhooks immediately before Jordan can reposition his arms for a better grip so essentially his wrists are on Caldwells ass and/or thighs instead of just having his hand or hands there...he needed to make sure he put at least one of his arms in position to underhook at least 1 of Jordan's arms when he goes for the double leg. he should have drilled that over and over to make it an automatic instant reaction because you will not have enough time to think about it while its happening because you will be on your ass way before your brain can process the information and react...its like having a 10lb sledgehammer with a 2ft handle...its easy to hold it close to the head with 1 arm extended parallel to the ground...but there is no way in hell that you will be able to hold it at the very bottom of the handle and hold it parallel to the ground...him reacting to Jordan shooting by leaning over Jordan and wrapping his arms around Jordan is like trying to hold the sledgehammer at the very bottom of the handle and trying to hold it parallel to the ground...he literally had 0 chance against Jordan with how he reacted...and because it happened on more than one occasion that he was using natural reactions but you can't blame the guy because of his success in wrestling up until this point...even though he lost I can guarantee that the loss lit a fire under his ass because everyone needs to deal with a loss or setback every once in awhile to get a reality check....you really can't ask for more success than being a sophomore in the finals of NCAA wrestling...this is my opinion so don't nobody go and get your panties in a bunch...I'm willing to bet that if u asked him he would agree

Caldwell could have studied for a year. Wouldn't matter. JB was a beast and one of the best. Went on and proved it internationally.

Lol. Caldwell had all kinds of defense. It was just that he was an excellent ncaa wrestler wrestling against the best wrestler on his feet in the entire world ( by a pretty big margin)
@JB-zo7ln8 жыл бұрын
Caldwell is so much better than this match showed. he should have beat Burroughs at the big12 in 2011 but narrowly lost the match. he truly was the only wrestler who could beat burroughs and match up with him well. Caldwell also had a great win against Covington of Oregon another beast who Burroughs beat narrowly. and nick amuchastegi of Stanford beat Burroughs once and Caldwell best amuchastegi. so he's very tough.

Did you even watch the match, Burroughs was constantly attacking and kept on scoring. Burroughs even scored points when he already had the match won. He wasn't stalling or trying to go out of bounds or anything like that. If he's boring, then who do you think is more fun to watch?
@4truecarlovers4 жыл бұрын
And watching kyle dakes championships is better because he narrowly beats taylor by a point is better and more exciting? If he stalled out, backed up or rode him the whole time after a take down to win 5 to 0 may be a perfect match but some would say that's boring and allows the opponent to potential escape in the 3rd and throw in the end to win... Instead JB destroys his opponents hopes and dreams of bating him... One of the greatest progressional wrestlers from start to finish... His greatness is from humbleness, having to get better every year and not already being the top from freshman to senior year... Staying at the same weight for 4 years is harder to win each year than going to another weight class bc people study you and often times people get harder to beat when you stall out like kyle dake does.
