2011 Subaru Outback | Sway Bar Bushing Replacement | Knocking Noise Solved

In this weeks video I show you how to replace swaybar bushings in the front of a 2011 Subaru outback. This customer had complained of awkward noises coming from the car kind of sounding like a knock from time to time that was driving him absolutely nuts. Of course I diagnosed it as bad swaybar bushings and after replacing them he said the car is like brand new. So hopefully if you were chasing a noise that you can't seem to find thinking it is a bad joined this may be the solution for you. It is definitely a job that you can do in the driveway provided you employ the use of jackstands when getting underneath your car. Thanks for the video. We had some frontend noise starting around 42k miles on a 2018 Outback, couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Started during the cold weather, endlinks, tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushings all seemed fine. Changed the stabilizer bar bushings and the noise is gone. 🎉

Thanks for this! Only sway bar brushing soobie replacement video I could find. You mentioned you did one for the rear, too? I need to do rear brushing my 2008 H6 outback.

Hey my friend unfortunately I don't have any H6 that I maintain but it is pretty much the same as any outback. If you can do the front through my video you'll easily be able to identify the mirror and take care of business.

Is there a typical bolt size for installing a muffler? Also, would you use stainless bolts? Thanks.

It all depends on what component, most exhaust systems when employing bolts usually use a minimum of a M10 size bolt or 3/8 if you're in the states. Provided you're getting a bolt that is that big in thickness then stainless is a good option. Anything smaller stainless tends to be a bit brittle and will crack or sheer off so you want to have at least an M8 or M10 size bolt.

Just curious for 2010-14’ Outback 3.6r Offroad upgrade. It has a final gear ratio of 3.083. Can we swap it with the more Stronger 3.58 ratio of the Tribeca 3.6r? Thanks 🙏

That is a good question I don't know the answer to. I would assume it's probably the same differential however if the ratios are different you would not be able to swap it without adjusting for the different ratio by swapping up the center and front diff.
