The Toyota dealership tried to charge me $124 to change this filter!! I told them no not at this time. When I was leaving after they changed my oil, I noticed a humming noise coming from the vent so I went back inside to tell them. He said oh that must be a leaf or something in the way. A repairman came to my car and released the glove box just as you showed in this video, took out the filter and reached inside to get the stray leaf that was causing the noise. He then put everything back in place. I thought to me self "REALLY?? THAT was going to cost me $124??" So I went to an auto parts store and got a filter for about $12, watched this video, and did it myself. That is some ridiculous over charging right there! Thank you for the instructions, Adam! My 2011 Camry and I appreciate you very much!

U NEED to change it. A dirty 11 year old filter will greatly reduce the efficiency of ur A/C unit. Eventually it will cause it to fail completely once it becomes about 80% clogged. Plus leaves and other debris can get in there as well (not good).

There are different types of filters. Real answer is if it says 'airflow' make it point down. If it simply says 'up' make it point up.
@musicfan14275 жыл бұрын
OEM filters have the "up" arrow, but actual airflow is down. Most aftermarket air filters seem to have down arrows in the direction of airflow. The Toyota manuals show directions for the OEM filters with the "up" arrow.

I might be wrong. I'm not sure what direction the air flows in your model car. However, the arrow should be pointed in the direction the air is flowing. So, in most cars, it would be pointing down, as the air is coming from the cowl.

@DiscoFang4 жыл бұрын
Bending the glovebox is the wrong technique, it can permanently distort it. Once the piston is removed, sharply pull the lower edge of the glovebox off it’s hinge-pivots then lift the whole glovebox out, rotating it slightly to clear the side tabs.

80 bucks for that? Seriously? That is why I have stopped taking my cars over the years to dealers because they charge you and arm and a leg(now some places let you bring in your own parts so you just pay for the labor,I have done that a few times) I just purchased a cabin filter for my 2011 Camry LE over on Amazon. You would think mechanics at large auto shops would be precise and to the point as the gentleman in this video is. I would love to do more minor work on my car but the apartment complex where I live does not allow for tenants to do most things,with the exception of small things like this of course. Camry is still running great almost 3 years into my car loan(granted,it only has 60,000 miles on it),and I am only on my second oil change. I only drive a total of 16 miles to work and back so that helps too :)
@AdamBedz2 жыл бұрын
I have a 2011 as well with almost 190k miles. The only thing I would do different next time is change the oil at 7500 miles instead of the 10,000 mile recommendation. I think 10k is a little too long even though its what they recommend.
