@@AlbertoFonseca-t1v Any type of good quality polishing compound will do! but here is the Key! you must spray on some type of UV rays protecting coat on your head lights! soon after, or else they will return to their dull foggy way. (Make sure they are nicely dried and cleaned before you do it! spraying evenly from left to right making sure you do not spray over the paintjob) Tip. To get even better results? Use borrow/ rent. or buy a mini battery or electrical polisher add small amounts of polishing compound on a new polishing pad then wipe clean after each pass with a new microfiber hand towel and check your progress. Mine looks like I just bought them brand new from the dealership yesterday and it's been seven and a half months since I did mine. Good luck!

For more severe oxidized headlights, I start with Bon Ami, then I move to the toothpaste which, serves as a finer abrasive. I move to fine sandpaper when I feel no resistance while sanding. I rinse the headlight, dry it, apply car wax and I'm done. I will try the WD-40 next time. I'm not clear what polishing agent you used, but I'll look into it. Very close to my method. Thanks.

I remember as a child, sitting on the floor in West Virginia, helping my dad get ready for deployment to AFB Thule, GREENLAND. Top of the World, I was thrilled he was going to a base that I could find on our globe, all by myself, no grown-ups interfering, telling me not to miss my dad so much because he was serving his country! What about me???? The world is very simple when you're five years old. He would let me 'help him' polish his boots and brass, shoe wax on the boots after heating the leather in the oven for a little (he said I was his boot baking baby buddy) and finally, we used Pepsodent tooth powder with a toothbrush for all his brass. I was very impressed that they both came in little round metal tins!! Edit: forgot, we're in Milpitas, CA. Very, VERY close to the city limit with San Jose, CA.

Seems like even if it's not necessary, it's a good 2 in 1 scrubbing effect. Not sure why to purposely exclude it. Unless you have good reason I'm missing (I'm not very car maintenance savvy)

@ You can achieve the same finish doing everything in the video without using toothpaste, and just using water and sandpaper instead. But it has to be wet/dry sand paper. You start with about 220P then move up in grit from there. You can start at a finer grit by using a polishing compound that is actually made for polishing headlights with sandpaper. Toothpaste is expensive, where the actual compound, while it costs more than toothpaste, can be used multiple times unlike the full tube per headlight in the video. But the compound is still not necessary.

The toothpaste tapers down the 1000 grit he started with. we all have a lot of toothpaste at home already but not the other compound you're talking about. Basically, toothpaste paired with 1000+ grit sandpaper is a great engineering solution to reduce friction which could scratch the light while sanding for this case. Results are excellent.

@@adrianjohnson9122 UV clear seal, I use mothers rubbing compound, then mothers mag and chrome polish, the got some UV protection clear seal spray. Some of the bud stains will not come all the way off. But by rubbing they will face enough to improve your light to about 90%.

@@mariabentley6481 See the thing ith wd40 is that is clears of the yellow haziness to an extent but the headlight fogginess remains intact and adds a bit f shine but u wont feel its like new if its oxidiozed so much. wd40 as temprory is good but like after a week or so u will notice the haziness again for that apply a wax u find in house or smtg but before all this try the toothpaste method

Чтобы ваши новые фары были всегда такими и не тускнели, рекомендую сразу обклеить (забронировать) прозрачной авто пленкой, аналогичной той, которую клеют на дверные авто стекла. Это же можно сделать и сразу после такой реставрации фар и вы забудите об этой працедуре в дальнейшем . Я так сделал и фары уже 6 лет, как новые и ещё плёнка защищает пластик фар от сколов при попадании камушков . Я из России.
