Forget all of WHY they were mad at each other. I've owned, driven, and worked on race cars, from the mid-70's to 1990. I used to be a full time ARCA crew member, then full-time official, and part-time Cup official back in the 1990 to the mid-00's. Why Busch wasn't suspended for pushing Harvick's car is beyond me. Harvick could have easily just slammed his brakes, and stalled the car, got out without touching any switches, to confront Busch. If that would have happened, when Busch pushed Harvick's car, it could have started, and took off on it's own. Idle speeds were set higher pre-fuel injection days. Pit road, is dangerous enough during a race, from getting whacked in the back, or legs with lug nuts getting shot out from spinning tires. Spilled gas, especially back then. Guys slipping and falling with the heavy jacks, getting tripped up by air hoses, busted air hose flying around like a snake on speed, and the possible worst of the worst, _fire_ . Even when things go perfectly all race long, you still end up with a few lug nut welts and bruises on you. But after a race? When everyone is relaxed and off guard. To possibly have a driverless car start up and run down a crowded pit road? That is inexcusable. (If the car started it would have went straighter a little longer, maybe through the opening and into the garage?) All of us, crews or officials, know what can happen by accident, and we accept that. But injury or death because of a hot head or two. Nu-uh, didn't sign up for that . . .

@TheJet53 Harvick was already in NASCAR, already driving for Childress, when Earnhardt passed away. He was already slated to move up to the Cup Series, just not as soon as he did. Let's not pretend like he just fell into a good ride. He got thrown into a team that had just lost their leader, and their friend, in cars that were built for someone else, and none of them knew anything about Kevin or his driving style.

NASCAR officials love and support punk drivers like #18. It's just like professional wrestling. Ya got yer faces and ya got yer heels. #18 is a heel. Heels are what puts butts in the seats. Anger sells tickets. See that crowd back there? They wouldn't be there to cheer on a face. They're there to get all mad at a heel. Faces and heels. Anywhere and everywhere you look. (secret tip: women love bad-boy heels)

Sure Kyle has more wins than Kevin. But Kevin has something Kyle don't like 2 championships, a Daytona 500, a Brickyard 400, an All Star win, 2 Coke 600's. Kevin has 8 top 10 SC points finishes, 5 of them top 5. While Kyle has only 5 top 10 SC points finishes, with only 1 in the top 5. Since joining JGR in 2008 Kyle has finished 8th or worse in points, including 2 failed chase appearances in those 5 years...

Kyle Busch is a coward (as much as a driver can be, at any rate) and in my opinion, a criminal for what he did to Ron Hornaday at Texas several years ago. He's proven time and again since then that he never learned. Remember when his brother tried to have Jimmy Spencer arrested for a punch in the mouth? Well, what Baby Busch did was whole orders of magnitude worse than Spencer's punch. Joe Gibbs should be ashamed of himself for allowing Busch to continue to drive for him after repeated offenses both on and off the track. It ain't Christian to condone someone's continuing bad behavior Mr. Gibbs. Whether it matters to him or not, I'm afraid that Gibbs' inaction has cost him my respect, which at one time was great.

The Robot Racers (Johnson,Kenseth) are going to ruin this sport with their boring, play it safe aura of vanilla PR jargon. Harvick, love him or hate him, is embodying the culture of the competitiveness that NASCAR has lacked in recent years. Despite Kyle Busch having the most grating personality, he still has the competitive fire to make these feuds interesting. I still can't stand Kyle thinking he's all big and bad when he's driving a yellow Toyota camry with m&m's on it, but at least there is a (I guess the most appropriate word would be THE) antagonist in NASCAR.

@stephenholloway68936 жыл бұрын
It technically has happened before, David Pearson I believe won 3 championships but didn't run the full season either. Not in the modern era til Kyle Busch did it. 1968 was the closest Pearson ran the full season, he ran all but 1 of the 49 races back then. Even more amazing, Pearson never ran the full season at all. Plus despite running 22 out of the 49 races in 1967, he still ended up 7th in points. My point, Kyle did what the rules said to do, he had to win a race and be in the top 30 by the time the Chase starts. Which he did. My question, where in the rule book says that any driver has to complete (or at least start) every race regardless of injury? Yes we have seen drivers start a race despite an injury but it was to my knowledge never a rule stating that they had to.
@cathychastine62386 жыл бұрын
He played by the rules..did more than any other driver...earned that one like it or not.
@DDS0296 жыл бұрын
Pearson won his championships when you didn't have to run all the races. None of his championships were predicated on that he had to win just one race, and finish in the top 30 in season points, in order to have a chance. Pearson gained the most points from the first race to the last, beating others who ran all the races. In 1980, If you want to try and mix points rules, Pearson should have shared the championship with Earnhardt. Pearson drove for him, even won Darlington, and Earnhardt got the points, without having to start the race at the initial green flag. That's the reason why whomever starts the car, gets the points. People questioned how long DE's _recovery_ was taking. So an argument can be made that DE won just six titles. Petty should only have six also. He should have lost points for running an oversized engine _and_ softer left side tires on the right for a short run to the checkered. Jimmie Johnson should only have about four championships, because like Kyle, and _un_like Pearson he didn't have what should have been considered the highest points earned those seasons. And Harvick should have had two more, because of earning the most points _all_ season.
