Busch could've driven off with 20 to go, and it's still one of the greatest races ever. If he didn't miss pit road under green around halfway, then he doesn't lose multiple positions and likely restarts in the lead instead of Gordon with 100 to go. Junior and Mark dominated, and both of them were right there with Blaney at the end. Even Michael was right behind, and he never led a lap and started last. This was a race of survival, won entirely on merit. Craven drove perfect all day, managed his tires better than everyone else, while still making positions. This race had everything, and nothing since has compared.

Robby Gordon was always an idiot, blowing so many good finishes, possible wins, & burning so many bridges with all of those teams, including his own, along the way.

Sadler made a boneheaded move late in the race. He didnt need to change lanes right there. Pay the hell attention, dude. I wonder why he never really broke out. Perhaps he got in his own way.

This race is synonymous with one thing. Horrendous luck for Kasey Kahne and also for his amazing wrecl avoidance with 54 to go shown here.

Pre race there's so much hype about how important to tradition this event is, and Bill France Jr with that hall of fame Two years later and Brian France was already cannibalizing it 😒 Also, pretty much one of the last televised nascar events that doesn't do all that nationalism and recruitment propaganda for the military industrial complex, oh and the religious zealotry and indoctrination is also skipped c:
