I have 2011 jetta 2.0 my ac is reading 8V DC. Compressor is spinning but no cold air. Im getting a loud noise now from the fans. Can i upload my fuse box from under the hood. Mayve you can tell me if it looks right

I don’t have any codes associated to the AC. Would this resolve the issue? My vehicle also blows hot air

Hello. Thanks for watching! The answer to your question is no, the compressor is designed to not run when low or empty on Freon or 'gas' as you referred to it. Once I had the system discharged of Freon, I did not run or turn on the A/C system in the car and only spent three days time from discharge, replacement, to recharge.

I’m pretty sure the compressor won’t even engage with low Freon.

​@@Handleoriginal12This compressor design is on all the time what regulates the pressure is the solenoid along with the txv. There is no clutch that engages or disengage. There is a low pressure switch that cuts grounding to the solenoid.

Hey Cam, did you determine that the part you needed was PXE16 because you found the spec of your compressor or do all 2011 VW Jetta 2.5L have that same solenoid in them? I ask because of RKXtech themselves mentioning something about how two of the same year/model vehicles may have installed a compressor by different manufacturers resulting in different solenoids (or something along those lines). Your video is great and thank you!

Hey Christian, I did indeed look at the specifications of the actual compressor under the car. I used my phone camera to take pictures of the label where I couldn't see. I am not certain if the solenoids are all the same or not. I would check to be sure. Good question and best of luck. Thanks!

No, I did not have to remove the serpentine. Just remove the plug from the solenoid and the C-clip that holds it in place.

Yes. The system is pressurized and when you go to remove the solenoid from the compressor, it's going to blast out like a bullet while refrigerant sprays everywhere until the system is discharged. Releasing refrigerant into the air is also a big no no. Have you ever tried to remove the anti freeze cap on a vehicle that's been running for awhile? Similar experience but with a projectile and underneath a car. Not recommended, but you do you!

@@camhart5878 Just wanted to make sure. I've never dealt with a variable orifice compressor before. I'm a classic car guy and all mine have a clutch system. Really threw me off when i noticed the compressor spinning constantly during troubleshooting lol. I'll get it evacuated. Thanks 👍

In the video I mention how important it is to have the system discharged before removing the solenoid. Of course there's almost a little tiny bit in the compressor. I also mentioned the little puff of air but that was it.

How much did it cost to have it evaporated and recharged?

I got lucky and a local mechanic shop did the evaporation for free with the promise that I would return to allow him to charge me for the recharge+dye ($115). It wasn't an easy task finding someone at first. I called around a handful of shops until someone took me in. I will say that PepBoys almost did it for me with the same deal but they were a couple of days out.

When you turn the knob for air nothing happens and the fans don't blow? Is that the issue? I would check fuses first. There is a fuse box under the steering wheel to the left, a larger fuse box uder the hood and drivers side as well. I have a cheap fuse tester makes the job a lot easier.

@@camhart5878 yes absolutely no power to the a/c or heater I've gone through the fuses under the steering column with no luck. Yet

When I had to put new solenoid in - turned out that I have aftermarket compressor. And new solenoid doesn’t fit. Old solenoid was broken in attempt to be pulled out. So I had no choice beside ordering new compressor
