It's funny how they kept saying the winner has always ended up being Olympic all-around champion, and gabby got the highest score only to end up being AA champion. :D
@angeliastone-tolcher23863 жыл бұрын
she actually did win this meet it was just because the usa could have 3 compete but one wouldnt be apart of the official competition. So gabbies scores in this were the highest but she isnt the official winner
@izzehank16083 жыл бұрын
@@angeliastone-tolcher2386 I think what they said is almost true. Aliya mustafina is the true winner in At&t 2011 but usa rob her with only 0.062 difference total point lower than jordyn weiber after she fail to make second jump but Tim Digget from usa sport commentator said aliya already complete her jump in dance floor. Aliya not fell from bar in uneven bar like Jordyn weiber but she got deduct high point than Jordyn Weiber. Aliya become the bronze medalist in Olympid London All Around Women Gymnastic together with Gabby Douglas and Viktoria Komova the silver medalist.

the winner of the american cup did win the olympics.... not technically but Gabby did have the highest score, and then ended up winning the all around.... the link between the american cup and the olympics is kind of a cool fact!

I’m watching this in Feb. 2020, and loving it. Wow, if they’d only known Gabby’s future! What she had in front of her is incredible. It’s cool they had her “competing” in the American Cup, then she goes on to win the Olympic gold in the All Around. ⚡️🤸♀️⚡️

Man Jordyn's scoring in this competition was ridiculous. Had they scored her more accurately all year maybe she wouldnt have been surprised to be out of the AA? a 14.966 for that kitty beam routine? and that huge arch on her bars set
@saragrant9749 Жыл бұрын
She was dealing with a stress fracture in her leg, did you not think about that? She still qualified FOURTH overall, and would have been in the AA if not for the assbackward two per country rule (the USA did participate in the request for it, but it’s acceptance makes the sport the least respected and most disdained by all other sports). She ended up performing brilliantly for the team and helped get that gold medal- no small feat in itself. Were some of the scores here overdone? No disagreement. Do various other countries do that domestically? Absolutely. Jordyn will always be an Olympic champion, and AA world champion. And you would be what exactly? A mouthpiece with a keyboard.

I am a fan of all gymnasts as well. I'll cheer on the US first but I wouldn't want Russians to fall and get hurt for the Americans to win. Every gymnasts worked hard so I have to give them all credit. The gymnasts that did the best deserve to win. I hate how people keep saying the Russians should have won regardless of their mistakes. I have problem with people who pretend they love gymnastics and always choose Russians or Romanians for artistry to make themselves look good.

Very true. The US had such strong all-around competitors which has to happen with a five-person team. Marta was looking for fantastic all-arounders and she found them in Gabby, Aly, and Jordyn. Whereas in Olympics past, a lot of the competitors were specialists, that can't happen now. I really wish they would allow more than two gymnasts in the all-around competition.

I agree with the Russian Federation for never having competed at AT & T again. Because FIG said that only those who had competed in a world championship could compete in the AT & T competition, yet USA put Jordyn Wieber and Dalton to compete and FIG simply do anything about it.

I'm from Greece and the american cup is now on tv with greek coverage. The greek commentator said that Chelaru's and Raisman's bars were great, that Wieber's beam was amazing and Raisman even better. They said Chelaru was Georgia Simpson. They also said that an avarage age for a female gymnast is 24 years old!!! And for some reason they think that the americans invited the gymnasts they considered promising (!!!) I'm really starting to appreciate the NBC commentators

The only Romanian in decades who can swing bars? That's kind of harsh for gymnasts like Sofronie, Nistor and Porgras who made olympics/worlds finals. And I was surprised they chose to show Moors, and the Romanians on bars instead of floor, same about Raisman and vault. But thank for uploading. The reason I watch this (2012 AT&T American Cup) is because I admire Jordyn Wieber, and Alexandra Raisman on what they accomplished, how they social with each other, and in other ways they're seen at this competitions. I definitely agree with you. I've watched many gym competitions with commentators from all over the world and the only ones I can stand and enjoy are the ones on BBC. They're a bit biased for the Brits, but they're good at talking about the positiveness of each gymnast and the different technical aspects/difficulty of their routines. All the other ones are too gossipy and annoying while the BBC is both interesting and educational. I wish other countries (NBC!) would copy their style.

Before the American Cup was a USAG sanctioned competition and now it's an official part of the FIG World Cup. So the top 8 AA in the last Worlds are invited (Weiber and Raisman placed in the top 8 last year). If a person is injured or withdraws, then the 9th AA gets invited and then the 10th so and so forth. Gabbie also competed but her scores didn't count, because she was subbed as an alternate for Jarosch. Some countries tend to take some liberties by choosing who to send (Tunney for Whelan)

I don't think the commentators were overly negative. I've been listening to these commentators since I was little and part of the sport 20 years ago. They know so much about the sport and its history and the expectations of perfection this sport demands. They simply put that into words as they watch each performance. The only event i think was positive was Jordan Weibers vault and Alexandra Raisman's floor. They need to work on all those balance breaks on beam and the messy bar routines.

I think Gabby is as close as sb can be to being a lock without being Wieber. Why? because of her UB routine, it's where USA is weaker and Gabby is great at bars and on that event she has also been very consistent, she has hit every routine she has competed this year. But I hope she improves her consistency so we can see her in more events in TF and in the AA
