2012 Challenger R/T Resonator Delete's

Went to my local tire store and they did an amazing job. Just cut off the rear resonators and ran pipe in their place. Sounds amazing in person
Just put on new tips with a wider diameter, sounds really good now. Here's the video of that

It definitely drones at certain points but that's true of any system at these volume levels. It's not unbearable in the front seats. Prolonged trips in the back seat are painful though.

Great video man. I love the Classic in this color way, best looking one out there. For those hating on the Challenger, yes, there are a lot more Mustangs, Camaros and Chargers out there. In fact, on any given day I can't even count the number of house wives and teeny boppers I see driving them around. They're about as common as the sun coming up In the east every morning. Challengers on the other hand are much more rare and they turn heads wherever they go, especially cars that look like this. Sure, they're much heavier than the Camaros and Stangs but you know what, I'm not racing for pinks on my way to work. If I was, I'd be into Ferraris and all the other race car imports. I got my RT because of the connection I feel with Dad and the 60-early 70s era of muscle cars when their eight cylinders shook the earth. No other pony car does that like the Challenger. And I don't say that to disrespect the other ponies out there, it's just a fact that the modern Challenger best capture that old spirit. I guess it all comes down to why you're buying your car and how it makes you feel.

As I’m 48 years old I needed a car I could put the kids in without actually feeling like I am trying to hurt them while doing so. The Challenger, Mustang and Camaro have done great to bring back the retro look. The Challenger is the best of the bunch from the retro looks dept. It is a beautiful muscle car with room for four. The Mustang and Camaro are pony cars and smaller carrying less weight. Although I’d like to have all three in the garage...I’d first need to have a garage. As I grew up in the 80’s with 200-235hp being significant...we are lucky to have the big three putting out cars like these. I thought we were screwed when GM went front wheel drive and then cancelled Camaro decades ago.

Exactly you took the words right out of my mouth I'm 53 and I currently have an rt plus it's silver and has the black rally stripes from the back mine's a 2012 I love the early 2000 models body style is smooth the newer models I don't care for because they look too boxy front and rear of the car looks cartoonish oh and also the black rim thing I'm not feeling that at all back when I was a kid and saw these muscle cars in their purity and this included the Cameros Mustangs slap a set of chrome Crager rims on and you was the man 😁👍🏾

I’m pretty sure this car is thr RT classic. It has two straight through type mufflers that lead to a ‘suitcase’ resonator before the tail pipe. Get rid of the rear ‘suitcase’ resonators and you get this sound. Ive done it.

Bought a '14 Charger R/T that had the resos deleted already. It sounded pretty good, but eventually I wanted a bit more "umph", and had the factory mid-mufflers replaced with Classic Chambered Powersticks.

the ones at the end of the tailpipe that you can see when you look at it from the back? those are resonators. they are to keep the exhaust note from droning inside the interior when ur driving it

well you still have until 2015 or so when they supposedly discontinue it but its getting some upgrades for its last one or two years of production like weight reduction for example then the barracuda comes out to take over. they make the SRT Core which is a basic SRT for the same price as a loaded R/T. and SRT is working on a new challenger to directly compete with the new chevrolet Z28 camaro. its currently rumored to have a next gen.426 hemi or a detuned viper engine from the current viper.

So you deleted just the resonators and left the mid mufflers on? Sounds really good. I deleted the resonators on mine and went with 3 inch pipes (going to go back to 2.5 or 2.75 due to loss of some low end torque)..Also have Flo Pro mufflers (no baffles straight through)..My setup doesn't sound nearly as good or as aggressive as yours. That sounds really good. Has me thinking I may want to change things up..

Those are resonators in the back. You can get Blastin Bobs pipes and do it yourself, they have many different options. If you remove the resonators you will have drone at cruising speeds.

Challenger hands down, way more power. But if its handling you are looking for the Mustang is more of a sports car than a pure muscle car. I don't know about the 5.0 though I test drove it when they first came out and it had a ton more power than the 4.6 but I would still choose the Challenger over it

Bought a used 2013 and its grey with black stripes. Some idiot at the dealer trying to detail the car used a buffer on the stripe and burned and swirled it. I was thinking about just removing it completely but now seeing yours with the red stripe gives me the idea... I could have mine redone. These guys doing wraps can remake my factory stripe in any color... red?

dodge supposedly under rated the horsepower in the v8's. the r/t is supposed to be closer to what the ram has with the 390hp which all i think might be different between the two is the truck has a towing cam and the car has a mild race cam but factory headers would have been a great option and the srt8 392 supposedly has a bit over 500, but that is all different depending on who dynos them.

Looks good and sounds good. The 5.7l engine has to go now. Come one Dodge, the basic block is from the 1990s already. It's a good engine for trucks and luxury sedans but the Challenger needs/deserves a major upgrade in HP, torque and top end. I'd like to see a Challenger Hemi over 6 liters for the R/T that would wipe the floor with Chevy's 6.2l engine, come with factory headers, forged pistons, forged crank and cams and be race reliable. Is that too much to ask for?

the challenger is the most sensible and practical choice out of the three. also, the other two dont have the legendary hemi! how many times do you say hey look at that mustang or that camaro!? for me its more like ...there goes another. but i always take notice when a challenger rolls by. that is a car that demands to be seen and stand out. and if you are blind enough to not see it, you definitely will hear it. im picking up an r/t blacktop package. figured id save 20k instead of getting a srt8

you dont lose power getting rid of the muffler and i cant find anywhere where it says its straight piped so he probably still has the cats on so its not straight piped. BUT if he did take the cats off and straight piped it he might have lost a couple hp if theres o backpressure.

The Challenger isn't "going away in 2015" its getting an all new interior, suspension, 8-speed transmission, more power and revised front and rear styling + LED lighting. The Cuda idea is dead, Challenger sells too good for them to drop it for some all new non retro car. Another RWD car is coming but its not a Cuda and it wont be replacing the Challenger. (its going to be Avenger sized, 4 door and RWD)

Ok, I have a 2010 Challenger RT, I had the resonators cut off the back of my car and over the axle exhaust installed with the original tips. I left the original muffler in place and untouched. I drove 350 miles today and was totally disgusted. The drone noise from 1600 RPM's and up, (and I mean up because I run it above 90 MPH) was extremely loud, too loud to enjoy music or conversation. So now what do I do? As a last resort I will have the resonators reinstalled, but what I really want is that that HEMI growl!!!! I need help!! Thanks from a retired veteran trying to live his dream.

Good day all! Today, I just did the resonator delete AND muffler delete on my 2012 SRT8 Yellow Jacket Challenger! 6-speed! I can tell you, and man let me tell you, that was the best thing I could have done to my car since I had it. I went from a stock sound to a freakin MONSTER sound! For less than $200, It will sound WAY more aggressive than any aftermarket exhaust you will buy! Why spend a lot of $$$ when for only $200 you will sound better? At first my car sounded so quiet, unless you saw me coming, you wouldnt know I was there. NOW, I have people jumping out the streets and turning their heads way before they see me. And let me tell you about WOT! WHOOOOO! It sounds like a damn rabid lion on steroids! LMAO! Im not kidding, it even scares me! Especially when I get up into 4000 range rpm and you can here that crackle! Man. Its nothing like owning the streets and sounding like it! I promise you for all those who was thinking about this....its the way to go. Don't be stupid and go buy a $700 exhaust that STILL won't make your car sound aggressive as it can be. Go muffler delete and resonator delete with everything else stock RT/SRT8. You won't be disappointed, I swear this to you. Its so loud and MEAN and bad ass. Ever since I put it on, people just stare at me. My friend did his RT challenger like this too, and it also sounds mean and loud. LOL, even the police came over and was like "can you turn off your car, we can't hear ourselves talking" ( he was real cool and laid-back). We were like "FUK YEAH!" Haha...please...just please...try this alternative to expensive exhausts. You WONT regret it!

What do you mean by saying challenger has wat more power? Mustang has more power in every category from base v6 to mighty shelby gt500... It's also ligther and handles better so the only thing challenger might be better at is looks, but everyone has diffrent taste. I love challengers but they are too big... It's like a chrysler 300 with outdated interior.
