Glad I Found This Video Becuz It Worked For Me! After I Decided To Buy A New Actuator, I Was Tryna Figure Out How To Replace, But I Found This Video and I Just Unscrewed My Actuator, Cleaned It, And Put It Back In, Tested It and It's Not Making Clicking Noise Anymore. If It Starts Clicking Again, I'll Replace It Then. But I Just Took Off The Dust Around it. Thank You and Props!

I wouldn't ever expect it to work right free floating then placed off timing. but your video has helped me to not be afraid of unplugging the thing and just looking at it the comment about dust is great. mine failed the day a service guy pulled my air filter ( behind the glove compartment)

Mitchell Burchell well thanks buddy did the same thing on the same actuator. Pulled it off cycled it when it was out made sure it turned. I figured it was the screws just loosened up from the back and fourth cycling because there is about 540 Decrees of rotation each direction in the motor but the flap only requires about 30 degrees of movement. I suspect that's why the screws loosened. I think its got that range of motion because it is the same actuator on the left that controls what vents the air is directed out of requires all that movement to go through all the vent modes. this is a result of dodge being cheap and instead of using a motor on the re circulation flap that only has the required amount of motion ! I did a test with the screws out and it clicked I pushed on it and held it in tight and the clicking stopped, could have probably got away with tightening the screws and it would have been fixed with out taking it out !

Thanks for the video. I am sure that the old unit got some congealed grease and the motor did not have enough power to turn the doors and the grease. I am going to take mine apart, clean out the grease and put new in there. Hopefully that will save me some money.

Lol that for the re circulate door! The blend door is the one on the left mine just crapped out had the same clicking problem, pulled the plug solved the problem cause I never use the recirculating Button

So note the direction the motor turns when you put the AC to full as cold as possible and then with your flat head screwdriver reach in there and turn the female part all the way in the same direction as the actuator and then put the actuator back in and that should fix the problem. It’s clicking because the door is all the way open or closed and the motor is still closing. I am hoping that is all that is wrong with mine and that mine doesn’t have a door that won’t open or close all the way.

Well it was about 100 degrees outside so I didn't try the heat. Soon after i posted the video the clicking started back, so i thought it was a bad part. I changed through two different accuaters, still didn't fix the problem. So I unplugged it, no problem after that. When I have to use the heat it may become a problem, but I'll worry about that when I get there. It will also allow you to save up money for the huge repair bill because in order to get to the blend air door, the dash must be removed. Never buying a Dodge again... ever

+Mitchell Burchell Hi Mitchell. Thank you for this. Out of curiosity did you make sure the door was the correct direction when you put the actuator back in? I only ask because I did this a few weeks ago and so far (knock on wood) have had no more knocking. I just waited to see which way the actuator moved either fully clockwise or counter clockwise and then moved the door the same direction all the way by hand before putting the actuator in. It seems the door only has two positions. Thanks again for the video though! It was a great help.

That actuator for rear system ( seconds seat behind the driver and passenger) or that actuator for passenger area only

My wife 2014 avenger was doing the same thing. Replaced it. The the other one just above the has pedel for the hot/cold door started clicking. I took the housing apart and found out a one of the gears had a tooth broke off. There's 3 gears inside and the middle one was broke

My 2011 Dodge avenger heat has been clicking,and gurgling, the engine oil coolant housing needs to be replaced,but now it has begun fogging the inside of my windshield as well which I'm assuming is a heater core gone bad now too... any suggestions? Gotta say I hope I'm wrong.

Just touch the square with the time in the bottom corner, arrows pop up to change the hour and mins, adjust, push save and you no longer have an excuse for being late to work

Norris Bjr. We actually just got rid of this vehicle and it has neen a long time since i did this. But, if i remember correctly there is an actuator to the right and one to the left the glove box. I only worked on the right one, so idk how hard the left one is to get to. Sorry i cant help more.

I know this is an old video, but do you recall what the cable connects to under the actuator? There's a plastic tube with a cable with a clip on the end hanging down from it and mine is just dangling. I'm pretty sure it should be connected to something. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the same problem. It clicks then goes away after a few. The main problem is that my temperature is just below the halfway mark and on really cold days its tough to warm up the car. I understand there are 2 thermostats, really? Sick of this car

tuna2v it fixed it for about 3 days then it started doing it again, i ended up unplugging it. Make sure the part functions correctly. I couldn't tell a difference in the function of the car. I don't know if that would be the case for you though.
