How to replace air door in a 2013 Dodge Avenger

I just want to say thank you for making this video. This is tremendous help bro, even just to help me understand how the actuator works for controlling your temperature from hot air to cold air. I have a 2013 Dodge avenger v6 as well in my AC is blowing cold but my heat is not working, so I'm having trouble defrosting my windshield in the morning. I did this job yesterday. I only removed the side panel, unscrewed the knee bolster, popped it out enough to bend it down out of the way, and went at it to remove the actuator. The tabs on the knee panel will stab you in the back while doing the job. 🤣🤣 Putting a towel over it will help with that.

The clicking noise I have is coming from the passengers side of the vehicle. I've seen other videos that show the actuator behind the glove compartment. Are some 2013 Avengers different from others??

Thx for watching video and yes I have heard about an actuator also being located between the console behind the bottom of radio but I might be mistaken because I never owned one to see. But a clicking sound might also be coming from the blower motor I had that piece also go out due to not changing cabin filter. Got to replace those at least once a year. There are 3 of them. One near the steering wheel and two behind the glove box (left and right). To get to the ones behind the glove box you just open the glove box, disconnect the cord that holds it up and then squeeze both sides of the glove box and it will allow you to pull it down. From there you can easily reach the left and right actuators. You can also change the cabin filter from there. If it's a constant whirring noise then it's the blower motor, which can be accessed from under the glove box.

No it sounds like your AC might not be charged all the way or the compressor went bad. Mine did the same thing later on after I did this repair. Go to your local ac shop and have a compression test done if possible. Thanks for watching ✌

I bought a 2013 Dodge avenger and the white arm that connects to the actuator under the steering column was missing and I can find the actuator online but not the white actuator arm I tried advance auto and they can't find it in there system either any ideas of were I can get one

I know I’m kinda late to the vid but what was the problem you were having with your heat? Was your heat only coming out on the driver side? My heat will only work on the driver side, passenger side only blows cold not hot. I can’t find a solution to this problem been looking all over the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No the actuator door was not opening to allow air to come out the vents. The problem you are probably having is the the heater coil is going bad on you or have you ever changed your cabin filter? Most ac problems comes from that issue it clogs up the system and the blower motor goes bad which will cause the heater coil to go next. You can tell if blower motor is bad by just turning system on and looking at it behind glove box to see if it's spinning slowly or not at all if it's slow then maybe changing filter could help but if not turning at all might be your problem. Hope this helps after this I would suggest to take it to an ac shop for a check up. Good luck and happy holidays ✌

I have a question. My heat blows cold on the passenger but hot on the drivers side. I replaced the actuator on the passenger side but it still blows cold when the heat is on. Doesn’t matter if it’s the vent, floor or defrost that I put it on it’s still cold. Any advice? Went all winter last year like that I don’t plan to do it again this year. Help me. Lol I do most of my car work on my own although I’m a girl, but this needs fixed.

Hey sorry you going thru this. It sounds like a blower motor issue I don't know what else it might be. Have you tried some forums they usually help out if someone else went through these issues. I don't have the vehicle anymore, sorry I can't help out with more. Good luck and take care ✌

Jose, I like your videos, you seem to have a good grasp on the avenger. But I have seen the same question come up with no response, I too am having the issue of when the heat is on, only getting hot air on the drivers side and cold on the passenger side. I’ve seen post of “ it’s the heater core” or “it’s the blend door/ actuator “. I am trying to find a root cause so I don’t start throwing parts at it in hopes that fixes the problem. Keep posting your videos I really like them, by the way I have the 2012 avenger v-6

I should've posted another video after this one because I had that problem as well and it was the blend actuator go out I replaced it then my blower motor went out lol, but I fixed as well and no issues after that. spelling is pretty poor and I have to use the microphone to talk into it if anything sounded like I was saying something bad I am sorry for that but the blend door on the passenger side is the one I changed I appreciate the input probably will do it today I had to put brake pads on the car but thank you again and Hope there's no hard feelings

Yea that one you changed on that side spins with the Temp control knob for hot and cold. and works with the AC button. I think its cause I have my recirculate one unhooked cause I need to get the replacement... there is another one left side of the glove box that moves when you select what vent you want blowing and then the one on the right side behind the glove box is the Recirculate door one... Got a feeling the one I'm looking for is mad hidden in the center or its too do with the one being unhooked. thanks for the reply

Do you mean the plastic molding under the dash? This is the piece which you will have remove the push pins from and the plastic molding kick panel by the gas pedal 1st before you remove the larger piece under dash.
