Went pretty well. A little rough getting the bolt out on the intercooler. I didn’t realize the engine bay is so tight until I tried getting my meat hooks in there. She has an 09 and it’s almost exactly the same. Oh and I had to cut the lower hose because the clamp was on upside down. So instead of looking at it from above it was on the bottom and all but impossible to get off. No bi deal though. Thanks for the help brother!

This is the absolute best radiator replacement for a Dodge Journey video I've ever seen. There's only one thing I could think of that would make it absolutely perfect, call out each and every fastener size as you're removing them. Awesome job though thank you so much 🇺🇸💪🏻👊🏻🤙🏼
@c_mac77732 жыл бұрын
Oh and immediately when I took the radiator out of the box and realized how delicate the radiator fins are because they're basically a little bit thicker than tinfoil they cut the box and put a piece of cardboard on the front and back of the radiator before I even started and kept it on until I got the radiator slipped down into place then I pulled the cardboard out from each side. Worked like a charm I can't imagine doing it without having that protection I definitely would've destroyed it

Thanks for the much needed demonstration on how to replace the radiator and my question is the 2014 no different than the 2012 dodge journey you replaced the radiator on? Great and well instructed video, thanks again....
@Tedybear3153 жыл бұрын
Same exact procedure for both the 4 and 6 cyc? (should have waited until the end 'credits' LOL) Ours in the 2010 SXT decided to spring a leak. Pretty depressing as I did a full service (flush and refill) before putting it back on the road last year. Hopefully the NYS rust won't give it to much of a hard time. I've already ordered in the replacement radiator. I'm guessing no transmission cooling lines into the radiator on this one? That'll be a help!
@fixersautomotive45143 жыл бұрын
It should be pretty close to the same process to replace the radiator. I think the V6’s have the same transmission cooler. Good luck on the fix.
@Tedybear3153 жыл бұрын
@@fixersautomotive4514 Thanks! It should be interesting. I'm driving the wife's car (1988 Thunderbird Turbocoupe) until the part comes in. The Journey is still dripping coolant in the parking lot. I've put down a thick coating of speedy dry to keep the critters from lapping up the coolant. Landlord's being cool about it, he knows it can't be driven in the current state. So it's back to car ramps and I'll have to 'hide' my swear jar for the afternoon.

Can I use this same exact procedure for a 2013 Dodge Avenger??? I have the same problem with needing a radiator.
@erock17795 жыл бұрын
This video was a great reference. However, I worked on a 2009 Journey STX V6 FWD. It was different. No transmission cooler what so ever. Just the condenser and the radiator. This actually made it fairly difficult. It's sort of difficult to explain without visuals but I will try. The hard lines that lead to the condenser are mounted to the radiator on the passenger side about halfway up. This mounting bracket is connected to the radiator with a 10mm bolt. The top of that bolt is flush with the bracket with just enough clearance around the hex top to get your socket onto the bolt top. However, you won't and I mean won't be able to get your socket wrench onto the socket because the plastic from the bumper assembly is blocking that. This next trick is a bit unorthodox, but I literally got a 1 inch hole saw to cut away at that plastic. This was enough to allow my socket and wrench to get into that tight spot, undo that bolt which freed the A/C lines from the radiator. The driver side of the radiator was much easier cause there were no hard lines so that bolt was facing towards the front of the vehicle. Once these mounting points were free, we (yes you will need another person to help) were able to pull the condenser away from the radiator, dismount that, and then carefully but forcefully pull the radiator up and out. But I do stress you will need another set of hands. One person to pull and hold the condenser and another person to reach in and pull the radiator. This is because the condenser was still connected to the A/C hard lines which had "some" give but barely enough. My forearms are still scratched up. Also, the replacement radiator did not just pop in very easily. Some points were just off by a millimeter, maybe less, but just enough that we really had to muscle that sob in there. So if you work on the same year and trim that I did, have your hole saw ready and have a friend nearby.

Good bro but now the horns not work and the fan too 🧐😟 is any ground somewhere?
@eloytorres54806 жыл бұрын
I have 2012 journey with 3.6. I'm have trouble with the cooling fan not coming at operating temp at cold start only when I hit the ac switch on and off, only then the fan will come on . With the ac on the fan will come on at a higher rpm, but not high enough to where under load it goes up to 240, and as low as 222 temp at idle. I have gone as far as flushing the system, changing cooling temp sender/sensor and cooling fan resistor because the other one had stress cracks and had pieces of ceramic missing. I have even changed relays all 3 relays on top for cooling fan. Funny thing is that when the fan is on, fan still stays running at low speed with all 3 relay missing. Is there any module or something that I have over looked? Why would the resistor burn up the way it did? As far as wiring goes, pigtails that i have looked at are okay.

@fixersautomotive45145 жыл бұрын
camp man 86 thank you for your comment, the condenser has Freon for the a/c system. So if your a/c works don’t open the a/c lines because you will lose all of your Freon. It doesn’t have antifreeze/coolant, that’s a separate system. Hope that help and good luck w/ the fix.

Dolfocar Ali if you already replaced the radiator and it still over heats there problem another issue.
