Great video! Thanks for sharing. I just ordered an Abarth steering wheel for my 500 pop, and will use this video as an install guide. Cheers!

Did you replace your clock spring due to the steering wheel has so much wiggle room that it spins all the way around?
@OvalboreCars Жыл бұрын
I replaced it only because the old one had detonated an air bag
@paulharrington948 жыл бұрын
I replaced my every airbag except for the ones in the seat (installed 2.2ohm resistors for those) got a new airbag module and i still have airbag light? What else did you replace

Doesn't show the earlier model with different clockspring retaining clips
@OvalboreCars2 жыл бұрын
notice how the video says 2012+. the north american market never got the 2008-2011 model. I stand by this video being relevant as described.
@iandownie2 жыл бұрын
@@OvalboreCars ok. I wasn't saying it wasn't relevant or described wrong, just that it doesn't help with the other version. I didn't realise the US never had it until 2012. Also as a tip from seeing other videos on the subject it looks like using a screwdriver with a tip ground to have a notch in it would help for the 2012 models. Incidentally, I am now convinced the FIAT hate mechanics by the design. So many stupid ways of doing things I can hardly believe it. I'm fixing my daughter's car and will continue to advise people to never buy a FIAT (Fix it again tomorrow).

When you put the airbag aside, make sure the top is facing upwards. Otherwise, in case it goes off, the whole unit will shoot up in the air.
@OvalboreCars6 жыл бұрын
theres no risk of it going off. If a bag detonates in front of you in any direction, you will be maimed.

Can the airbag cover emblem be replaced or do you have to replace the whole airbag? Bought a used fiat 500 and the middle part is all dented.
@OvalboreCars4 жыл бұрын
technically it could be, but in reality, you have to replace the bag

I’m working on a 2015 fiat 500. I’m trying to take out the clock spring . I took out the screw that holds that silver clamp down . But the clock spring still doesn’t want to come out . Is there anything else that you had to remove

nothing that isn't shown in this video, sorry.

Thanks for the video. Does the clock springs controls all steering wheel buttons or just the horn and airbag? All controls on my steering are currently not working including the horn and airbag. Thanks in advance for your help.
@OvalboreCars5 жыл бұрын
Yep - everything. when airbag deploys, it usually roasts everything

Can you list the tools you've used? Thx in advance!

Great video - thanks very much! Question for you, did you need to reset any codes, flash the ecu, etc when you replaced the clock spring? I replaced mine on my 13 Abarth and I think i immobilized the car. Any ideas? Thanks again!

if you did it with the battery disconnected, no.

Hey I'm also fixing up a salvage fiat and wanted to know where you got your airbags from.

Im a used parts dealer, so I use an interchange software to check databases of nation wide resellers. I bought bags from several different dismantlers

Hi great vdo! What was the reason you replaced the clock-spring?
@OvalboreCars9 жыл бұрын
+ntamp my vehicle was a prior salvage, the connectors for the previously deployed airbags were bad.

Hi man! Maybe you can help me. I have a Fiat 500 twinair 2012. It has the traditionel steering wheel, but I wold like to change it to a sport steering wheel. I cant seem to find the dimensions for the two steering wheels. Are the sport one much smaller? Also, do you know if a sports steering wheel will fit my car? Also, is the airbag the same for the two types of steering wheels? Thx in advance
@OvalboreCars8 жыл бұрын
we don't have the twinair in the USA so I can't tell you specifically. in the USA the 'pop', 'sport', 'lounge', 'T' all have the same diameter steering wheel. the 'Abarth' has a slightly larger but much nicer feeling wheel.
@ThomasfromDenmark18 жыл бұрын
Aha! Will the abarth wheel fit all the three models you mentioned? Thank you
@OvalboreCars8 жыл бұрын
yes, they are all interchangeable (even the airbag and clockspring is)
@ThomasfromDenmark18 жыл бұрын
Ovalbore That's awesome. I am confident that the Abart wheel will fit mine then. Because we also have the pop and lounge and they have the same steering wheel as my twinair. Thanks for the help!
