Yeah, it was great, because it wasn’t just a motion blur like so many other review channels. “Here’s the engine” quick swipe with half a second pause, engine never gets in focus and can’t get perspective on geometry... 🤦♂️ this fusion of video and slide show was great for me.

Probably less than you are thinking, since Gemini's are very affordable, also the fact that financing is becoming increasingly available for this type of purchase. Contact me if you would like to have more details and thank you for watching and commenting.

What is the price for the new Gemini 105MC 2012 and I hope they put a larger fuel tank in it. The small 35gal in the past sure is not much and it needs a racor fuel cleaning system. I read about people having problems with that fuel system tank all the time. Very glad to see they put a generator in it now, that was a smart thing to do. I guess its a diesel generator I hope.

Hi Caroline, How does this Gemini sail compared with other cats in its 35ish class - both speed-wise and pointing ability?

Aloha Caroline. A few years ago, the day after Strictly Sail Pacific closed, several sailboats moved up to Berkeley Marina for a day of hands-on demo sailing. The Lagoon Hybrid was the biggest boat, and it had 'technical difficulties'. Next was the Seawind 1200, with that brand new triple folding retractable saloon door that cranked up out of the way into the bimini.....nice boat. Next was the Mahe' 36, which IMHO challenged a lot of 38'-40' boats for overall design integration and function. Smallest of the bunch (not counting the Telstar 28 Trimaran) was the Gemini 34. It was the speed demon of the day, regardless of who was at the helm, it ran circles around all the other catamarans, and carrying as many if not more people. There is nothing on the water in a cruising sailboat that performs better and makes better usage of a 34' long by 14' wide footprint. Factor in cost, back then, you could not spend at the factory over $200,000 for a Gemini....with every possible factory whistle and bell, you would get change back. More than 1 group of people that day decided to buy (2) Gemini's instead of (1) of the larger catamarans. Love your reviews, some of the most thorough and fun videos on KZbin.

Caroline Laviolette Aloha. Question about current production by Hunter. The website talks about both the Gemini 105mc and the Gemini 35 Legacy. Is Hunter producing both? Or, has production stopped on the Gemini 105mc? The website seems a bit vague about that. I hope the 105mc remains in production, as I love the shallow draft with boards/rudders kicked up and the performance gained with the dagger boards/rudders swung down. Also, I have never been a fan of putting fuel burning engines buried under beds in the rear cabins. I first started noticing catamarans putting the engines accessible from the outside under the sugar scoop steps in the Mahe' 36. An electric hybrid version of the Legacy 35, with electric sail-drives and batteries (sealed AGM's) under the rear cabin beds would be interesting. Electric eliminates most maintenance, and very clean install, no fuels or oils or coolants to deal with. One last question. I can't seem to find the curved tracked screecher on the website. I hope that is still available as an option, I really enjoyed the simple sail versatility it provided. Mahalo

What is the main difference between this one and the Gemini 35? I cant find that anywhere. And then I have also head that these are not ocean going capable without a loud booming from the waves hitting the bottom of the Soloon. Then I have heard that they aren't very reliable and require a lot of maintenance? Can you answer any or all of these questions? Thanks

I don't see how you can call the engine easily accessible. Maybe easy to look at but not work on. The alternator is touching the firewall. Batteries mounted in the cabin?? they off gas when charging
@catamaranbroker9 жыл бұрын
+Mazda rx7 Accessibility is relative depending what you are comparing with. Aft in the center of the cockpit you have two main deck openings and removable side panels in the cockpit lockers to get at all sides. Compared to my experience being the smallest person on a similar sized monohull sailboat and having the joy of being upside down in the hot dark space, yes it feels easy. Anyone who has dropped a screw where you can't retrieve it can surely relate! As for the batteries, inside they are away from the elements. I prefer AGM batteries which will not off gas as they are sealed and that would be the more common type found in today's cruising cats.
@GoofieNewfie699 жыл бұрын
According to that, and I'm an aircraft mechanic, (25 years working on fixed and rotary winged aircraft, I never dropped a screw I couldn't retrieve) , I wound have to hire a mechanic to work on a simple diesel motor because I'm too big. I can no longer use cheap lead acid batteries, I would have to use expensive batteries. Cross Gemini off the list

Lame! Wtf? They did well, the quick and sudden on and off is actually what was hard for your ear. As a sound tech, you get an understanding of how things like that effect viewer enjoyment regardless if they like the music or not. Two options would be to a) have dead air, which is usually where you loose viewers, b) fade the music in and out, but never off, so the voice is clear but the mind isn’t trying to rationalize bpm’s that aren’t starting in line. There were definitely some finessing that could happen with alignment so the splicing won’t have white noise or speaker pops, but for a group that doesn’t specialize in video or editing, but yacht sales, I think they did an admirable job, and put in a lot more effort than so many other channels. Especially not knowing what software they had to edit this.

A great cat on a limited budget and with all the advantages of a cat vs mono. Many cruisers live aboard full time not to mention you can go where other can't with her 18" draft and with much more comfort and of course space and stability. Gemini has built over 1200 hulls with this philosophy proving she is a very capable design.

Low budget, starter boat. Slamming bridge deck, lots of maintenance, gel coat cracking everywhere, poor service by company. Gemini is not a gem.
