informative, but a demo of actual process would have been much more help. Good job though and i will check out any others you make. thanks

I understand a true walk thru is very useful.I however felt being the simple steps to do the repair or upgrade just highlighting the parts and some directions would suffice.Thanks for viewing.R

I really Get it.Seemed like umm everything steering or suspension on mine wore out about the same time.Just cheap parts from manufacturer on the orig stuff.Key reason I beefed up my axle choice to eliminate the spindle wear and tierods.In short my husq is stored and solely a back up if needed.Its like new but I upgraded in 19 to a JD and not 1 problem .Thx

Glad you mentioned the hole for a cotter pin in the shaft. Evidently mine had broken and fallen out. Would not have noticed without this video. Thanks a bunch.

Not as good as following the actual process but still very helpful. Note, the kit comes with everything BUT the cotter pin and new bolts for the lower bushing. It also "upgrades" the steering assembly so you HAVE to use all the parts given. The new shaft is smaller diameter, so the bushings must also be replaced to fit the shaft. Husqvarva bills this kit as an upgrade. The Upgrade is that the gear on the shaft is now removable so the next time your poorly engineered steering gear fails, you can just change the small gear, not the entire shaft and other parts. As the author here mentions, the steering on this tractor is well below standards that I've become accustomed to on higher end lawn tractors. Be prepared to also replace spindles while the deck is out. My spindles were shot before 200 hours. And I'm sure by now you've already learned of the poor quality seat. Mine failed the first year.

Great job on the video. I feel very confident in doing it myself now. I just received my parts today. There is a small washer in the package that I'm now sure what it for or where it goes. I know that the larger washer goes on the top of the steering column. Please advise on the smaller washer.
@Ron19873 жыл бұрын
Ok the washer is about a inch a 1/4.This goes on top of the lower bushing (where the two bolts hold ) the shaft in place.You put this washer on the shaft then install the the Retaining clip over top to keep it tight.If this is not clear let me know.I'll reword my explanation.Ok

@@Ron1987 Thank you taking the time to reply. I believe that I understand you correctly. This will be my first time doing this needless to say. Lord willing I'll get it done this coming Monday. I will reach out to you again if I'm not able to accomplish it. Thank you once again. 🤗

My question is how do you keep that mower so pretty looking that is old enough to need those repairs. Mine needs this work at 12 years of age. Ain't near as pretty.
@Ron1987 Жыл бұрын
Short version of the story.Bought it brand new in 2012 after I use it every time I remove the deck wash the mower and pressure wash the mower an deck top and bottom.I keep it serviced to the letter,remove the drive belt pulleys (I do blow the pulleys dry after washing) and put wheel bearing grease on those bolts 2 times a year.I could go on I do wax it ,keep it in my garage all the time.Im very thorough on maintaining and cleaning it.Key reason it looks great.The components that wore out were inferior parts in my opinion.All that said I bought a JD and in 19 and it's my primary mower HUSQ is solely for emergency use only.Its all good and by far the deere is just better made period.

Hey Ron - Great info Very helpful. Im having difficulty removing the plate. Any thoughts? What size is top nut.
@Ron1987 Жыл бұрын
Should be 15/16 I used a Short combo wrench as shown in the video.

One error on my part.The nuts that hold the draglinks to the steering knuckle come off counter clock wise(not clockwise) as I stated.Hope this is useful to any who address any steering play or premature worn components.

Hi Ron, I have to replace mine but the very bottom gear doesn't have a nut. It's solid...any ideas?
@Ron19873 ай бұрын
The Small gear will have a Allen or torx bit screw in the Recessed area of the Small gear.Once you remove the shaft you Can flip it over and See it.R
@karenjackson80353 ай бұрын
There is no recessed area, no screw either. I used wire brush cause I figured it was filled with dirt. Someone else looked at it and the said the same thing.

@jacoblightfoot5635 Checked my husq.As long as you have that allen head bolt in the gear to the shaft,then the cotter pin, and the 2 bolts that hold the shaft centered, Umm.Make sure the Gear that rolls 360 is secure.The shaft should not drop down and the nut/ flat washer for the steering wheel are tight.Just let me know,if I have to take another look at mine I will.R

Buy the Aftermarket Upgrade parts.There far better than stock.Being I replaced my front axle( heavier gauge) and spindles,bearings just better.I think husq just used inferior parts,key they fail sooner than say later.
