Thanks. That's azackly what I needed to fix my Huskyvarna. Part ordered. Great video. Edit. I received the part. I didn't have a conduit or chop saw to cut it with. Instead I used the old bushing turned upside down on top of the new bushing and tapped it in with a hammer. And there's your dinner brother T. Thanks!! Its so nice to fix that little irritation.
@MotivatedMetalworks5 жыл бұрын
There's another bushing below that one which probably needs replacing too.

finally, a repair shop person that "recognizes" the need for using a "pipe" to slide over & down onto the new part to quicky secure it in place. BRAVO!!! 👏

That was a nice easy fix Tayrl. I think I would have to machine myself out some kind of bushing and that would solve that indefinitely.

All ride on mower's should have a bearing block assembly on the steering shaft with replaceable ball or roller bearings! Good vid.
@MotivatedMetalworks5 жыл бұрын
For what they charge - sorta. It'd make more sense to have an oillite sleeve encapsulated in a support block with a couple thrust washers above and below it and hold the stacked assembly captive with the usual cotter pins. Bearings need grease and no homeowner is gonna grease that shit.

Another great video. I used the old bushing to slide over the new one and pounded on that one. I also found some of the slop came from the steering wheel and steel serrated hub, so I smeared RTV sealant on the outside of the hub before I tightened it down. Once it hardened no more slop!
@rodneybrand85215 жыл бұрын
Hey Taryl ...do they make that in brass or stainless .. or would that be a bad idea ??? I hava a husqvarna didnt know it was built so cheap...
@chrish37205 жыл бұрын
Actually, the bushing is made of delrin polymer. It is formulated for it's strength and lubricating properties. And being a little softer that the steel shaft, it is better in this application. It will prevent the bushing from wearing the shaft therefore, saving a more expensive part.

Wish that was the YTH22v46 with the gas tank in the way of the steering shaft. Is there a way to get around the tank without tank removal? I like the pipe trick, and looks to be about a 30 degree cut, and I would use a plastic washer or even a steel washer would protect from marring that bushing up (sorry, perfectionist here). Too bad there wasn't a second bushing at the top just below the steering wheel, but I guess a ridge on the underside of that steering wheel rides in there. Nice video bro!!! And YES, I enjoy my dinner!!!

Can you do a video about the bent frames on ayp/ husqvarna made lawn tractors.
@TalladegaTom5 жыл бұрын
Yes! A video on installing the "L" bracket kit for the Husqvarna rear axle to frame mounting problem would be great! According to the instruction kit, you cut off the bottom part of the drawbar where it attaches to the axle, then drill fresh holes in the frame and install the two brackets one on each side. (He might have already done one, just haven't seen it if so)
@yfna15 жыл бұрын
@ Talladega Tom I can vouch for the instructions regarding that kit as I have done quite a few while working as a lawn and garden tech for Sears. You are going to want some means of getting the rear off the ground to remove rear tires and easier access to removing the tranny. If the old busted brackets are still emplacement they can provide a guide for the installation of the new ones and having a paint pen to mark your drill points is an asset. Best of luck.

I have a cub cadet ltx1040 that's needing this done. Just bugs me that theres slop in the wheel,lol. I think mine is in the way too,but it's simple enough to unbolt and sit on top of the engine. I gave $500 for it last year and I've had to work some kinks out of it,but I think this will be the last thing besides fall maintenance before putting it up for the winter. Seems like a decent mower for a low end unit.

Hey Taryl, do a carbatrator breakdown of the Southland or Earthquake 43cc cultivator. Thanks in advance.
@Vfh........y5 жыл бұрын
I just replaced a carburetor on a earthquake post hole digger. Those carburetors resemble a Shindaiwa. Go to eBay and type in the model number of the earthquake as you probably won't find any identifying marks on the carburetor itself because it's Chinese. What it is is a Shindaiwa clone. They're about $11 with free shipping and it works like a charm. Several photos you will be given to look at so you can compare it. Part-time Small Engine guy checking in here. Good luck

Taryl, this piece doesn't seem to fit my 2010 model. There is no bushing in this location on my mower. The steering column shaft just goes through a hole and meshes with the other gear below the frame. Unless this piece has broke and fallen out. The slop in mine seems to be under the steering wheel.
