I replaced both motor mounts and did the oil pan gasket at the same time. I pulled the air box up to the throttle body off, removed the electric fan/shroud, alternator and serp belt also came off. Then I removed motor mount bolts. Jeep was on jack stands 4” off floor. I have an overhead hoist in my shop, put a sling around the crankshaft pulley and picked the motor up 3” or so, plenty of room to remove oil pan and pull both motor mounts.

The look on your face explains it all. I'm a professional trying to change a oil pump on a 2012 3.6 awd durango. I should have videoed it. I'm going to call the the dealer for a quote to see what to charge. I don't do that very often. Big job!

I was going to farm it out. I am a mechanic, I just don’t feel like wrenching on the wife’s car -or any of our dailys. Why the pan and not just the gasket?

I hear you there… this one had a crack… you could reuse it but you need to check them they could warp…you better of replacing it…and always a MOPAR part… happy wrenching 🛠️🛠️

5.7 2WD?? That must be fast 💨… I think you should be fine replacing the pan without a lift…good luck !!!

Hi, you can drop pan enough to get to the bolts, I believe there are 3 holding it up

You don't have to do all of that. Take the fan out. Unbolt the motor mounts. Jack the motor up about 1 to 2 inches put the blocks of wood in the gap where the mounts are up. Take your jack off the front of the motor to get it out of the way. Take the pan off. No need to mess with anything else at all. Just do a good job cleaning so it seals properly. I've done it. There is also another video that shows this on KZbin.
