2012 Mini Cooper S Countryman PCV Membrane Replacement

I had already replaced my PCV Membrane, but it split on me. I'm hoping it was just a defective membrane and I won't have to replace it every couple months.

Is the engine part you are clicking it on to made of metal ?

Unfortunately the entire valve cover assembly is plastic. It could be due to be replaced as well. There are aftermarket metal ones, but I haven't had the money to buy anything more.

How many miles on your car? Considering the valve cover is plastic too, it may have also been due for replacement. I'm not sure how long they're supposed to last.

Mine has about 140,000 miles. I don't know if the valve cover had been replaced before I bought it. I've had to replace the pcv membrane several times most likely due to other engine problems I haven't been able to address yet. Now it's down for a rebuild/reseal. But I'm working on getting the Fiero running and driving first.

Is this bad will cause oil leaks? Around my pcv have some oil leaking there

Causes oil leaks and increased fuel consumption. You might even hear air leaking through it. The Mini I had may have just been a lemon, but I had to replace it several times. I've heard it suggested to use the old spring instead of the one that comes in the kit, but I had already thrown mine out.
