Humble. I talked with him and he was sweet, honest, kind and trusting. When asked if he wanted his son to be a singer, he said he wanted to teach him how to be a man.
@Majak361 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’ve heard that story before because of Jason wanted to become a singer and songwriter but for phil everly because he just said was that no that he try to make him a man and nothing going to do whatever he wants and if I’m meeting him there if he still alive today that’s OK cool.

What a fine fellow he was … humility is so refreshing !
@theresabollman806110 жыл бұрын
From what I've read, he had that in spades. Erin Everly, his niece, said he was the sweetest, kindness happiest person. What an amazing legacy.

Indeed. One of the kindest, most generous souls to ever grace our planet. A true "country gentleman." I was fortunate enough to play with him and Donald for several years, on the road and in the studio, and I'll never forget them. Descansa en paz, mi amigo.

Phil was so humble. So different from so many of today's artists who so often are so full of themselves but with little talent.
@marywoodruff66407 жыл бұрын
The most remarkable thing was no one watching ever knew how he was suffering. He went along with the gentleman out of respect and sang a line but he could no longer sing very easily. What a wonderful man he was, and always will be. You are still in our hearts. 💝

A true gentleman two years before passing. I’ve always felt he had the harder role with his brother, because Phil sang the harmony. He and Don grew up performing and we all benefited from it. RIP my msn..

Yes, and Don sang it differently every damn time. Had to be handy that Phil could read his mind. That's why there was only one Everly Brothers.

@@marywatkins6798 oh god, if you're trying to pick me up on my English, say so. The "Everly Brothers" is an entity, singular. Or they can be the "Everly Brothers" plural. KZbin is rampant with illiterate people, pick on one of them.

Always sweet, always a gentleman. Had the pleasure of seeing them in Kingston, Ontario & Toronto years ago, Have been in love with them (Phil) since Bye Bye Love. In Toronto they played at the Inn On The Park, Phil stepped out of the elevator, and stopped and signed an autograph for me, he was so nice; I still have it . It's wonderful to visit these sites, watch their performances . Their music is so fresh. It was a great era to grow up in. Thank you to the Everlys for the memories.

Since hearing the sad news this morning of Phil's passing, I've been trying to play everything Everly on YT. And I've been crying all day. They were my first "favorite artist" and always my favorite duo. As many have said, they taught a generation how to sing harmony. Glad that Phil lived to see the unique tribute of an entire album of theirs (1958 folk collection "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us") being covered, cleverly named "Foreverly" by Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones. Phil was pleased with it. Now Phil is harmonizing in heaven with Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Sam Cook, Otis Redding and so many others we've lost. Prayers to the family.

Clearly, industry insiders must have surely appreciated that Phil and Don Everly were going to be something special long before others did. In point of fact, the Everly Brothers profoundly influenced some of the most celebrated rock, folk and country music artists' of all-time. Notwithstanding, "All I Have to Do Is Dream" remains ranked as one of the Greatest Songs of All Time. Still, I can't help but recall a time when life seemed so much simpler than today's run amok and often crazed age. Actually, its rather tragic considering that psychopathological behavior is increasingly viewed as the new norm in many societies today. Even so, I'm thankful that I was fortunate enough to grow up during a time when listening to the Everly Brothers on a Panasonic transistor radio or standing up for a noble cause was the zeitgeist of the day. R.I.P. Phil Everly. You were surely one of a kind! :(

We saw Dion Dimucci (2) times in Rochester, Michigan at Meadow Brook on the Oakland University campus by the Dodge Mansion in the 1990's & he put on a great concert! We sat right up front about 5 rows back. Also, at the concert were the great Everly Brothers! What a show for they did all their hits! They were real show men for they always dress great!

Don said that Phil had just stopped smoking in 2004 about ten years before he died in 2014. This interview was two years before Phil passed. His COPD was already causing pain and he could not have harmonized or sung anything at all because his breath was gone. The interviewer may not have known about the illness, but he should have sensed Phil's reluctance.
