I saw about 5 mustangs and around 10 camaros on my commute yesterday. I didn't see any Z's.

The Z is quite unique, you wont see 100 of them a day on your daily commute and its more refined than say a stang. Each to his own. I had the 03 Z for 10 years it was an awesome car

Just picked up 2012 370z Touring Model , OMG.. this baby is badazz, the Interior is amazing, the base model may not be all that interior wise but the touring model with Nav. is sick. Love it !

heel-toeing is for when you're driving for speed and approaching a corner. you have to slow down, and you downshift to keep your engine in its powerband. you have to use the clutch to shift, the brake to slow down, and the gas to 'blip' the engine. the blip in the throttle is so that when you go into a lower gear it's a smooth transition and there's no shift shock going into the turn.

Don't be afraid! Furthermore don't listen to much people, particularly if they don't own a 370z... This car is great! Have a good day!

To answer your question, yes, exhaust note can be greatly improved from one of the many aftermarket exhausts available for this car. I have the Fast Intentions myself and love it! Also, giving you my honest opinion, I've had my Z for 3 years and still get a grin from ear to ear everytime I drive it. Only minor complaint is the rear visibility stinks but you adapt to it after some time. Other than this car has been extremely reliable and fun to own and I plan on owning it for a very long time

I had 2005 350Z 6-speed. Just bought a 2013 370Z 6-speed. They are SO very similar but very different. 370 is much smoother, softer, more refined than the rawness of the 350Z. Thats good. And bad. Its definitely more powerful.

I've owned a 370Z. What you're concerned about is the oil temps. An oil cooler simply fixes the high oil temp issue. They range from $400-1000. Other than that the car is amazing to drive. Also to note. 2012 they come standard with oil coolers. I enjoyed my 370Z. Great power, fun to drive, very easy to maintain. No issues. However, I've always been more of a BMW fan and had to choose an E46 M3. To me the 370Z is a great sports car but lacks the proper luxury and space of the M car.

Nothing wrong with pointing out the downsides of this two seater. The space i'm fine with and I've gotten used to the poor visibility. But it is very poor... when you go in reverse it's almost like an adventure, you have no clue what to expect. So yes, you have to be VERY careful in this car when backing up. That said, i love my car and apparently so does everyone else. people can't stop looking at it.

While I was typing, I was thinking of the reason I chose a G over Z which was the space availability. I guess thats why I made the comparison...not necessarily based on the model or version of the car, but just on the size. Nice G35 you have tho...

I agree with you. I am so torn though because I see the Camaro 2ss and I love the idea of a V8 and a back seat and a lot more standard features. I see this car though and I think, way lighter and better in the turns but way less horse power. This car also looks awesome. Which way would you go? I need help bad!!!

Yes the rear view is horrible, that's why you buy a backup camera that ties to your stereo deck. Problem solved, I'm no longer terrified backing out of a parking space. I have no trouble buying groceries and putting them in the hatch. Weekly. You buy groceries in 2 week or 1 month spans, forget it. The car when you sit down, you feel like you're in a race car that drives awfully smooth for a sports car. The 7at transmission is magnificent. You'll never drive in automatic mode you'll always drive it in manual mode, least I do. I like the interior in the 370z far better than in the Mustang. Plus this isn't a car you see driving all over the place, you see a few and will probably see tons more now that the used market for these 2009 or 2010 are now down into low 20s for a used one. Plus the 2015 we're all waiting to see the v6 turbo from the factory and dropping a few hundred pounds, the Z 300 pounds lighter with any variant of turbo or supercharged from the factory and if they keep it under 40k loaded would be a monster for the price.

I owned a V6 '14 Mustang, and it was a pig. Boring as hell to drive. I've owned a '04 C5 Vette which, as you might imagine, was amazing to drive. BUT I rarely had an opportunity to take advantage of its power. It just wasn't feasible in the crowded, urban area in which I live. I dont think I exceeded 4k RPM in that thing more than ten times, ever. So I traded it for a '13 BMW 135i turbo. While it's not as powerful as the Vette, it's actually much more fun to drive. It's rev-happy and makes you 'work for it', turbo and all. But I'm now leaning towards trading it for a 370z which seems to me to be the best of both worlds. I prefer a normally aspirated engine, and one that needs to be pushed for its power. And I imagine (never having driven one yet) that the Z will handle comparably to the C5 Vette. Oh, (first world) decisions, decisions.

This car is a really nice driving car, lots of power, great handling, overall very nice to drive. However this car is extremely impractical. I believe mustang is better, might not be as nice to drive but you get a lot of power, and it is far more practical. I own a mustang and the trunk is a nice and big(I can fit a lot of stuff in it), it has rear seats that I can use(although they are very small I have used them before) Overall I would go with mustang and save money over the Merc and BMW too.

can someone explain heel toe to me and this idea of synchro match or rev matching or whatever it's called. If I'm cursing n 5th gear and I need a sudden acceleration to avoid danger, and I shift into 4th or eve 3rd gear I don't get why I need to slow down the car before shifting. It really makes no sense to me. The whole reason I'm down shifting is so I can go faster, then shift up again and keep going faster. If I brake while shifting, I'm losing speed which I have to make up

Bouge laal Well for me...I live in Chicago. Dead center of the city...traffic manual transmission...drains my gas quicker. I fill it half tank most of the time. Last about 4 days. That's driving 2 and from work. Heavy traffic. The mirrors help but the main blind spot is turning your head to the right to look over your should. If you get the car buy an RJM clutch pedal. The Z33 clutch pedal is horrible

From my experience from driving the new Camaro SS & Mustang GT 5.0 & Nissan 370Z is straight line performance the 370Z will not hang with those 2 cars but in the handling department the 370Z will absolutely outperform the Camaro and Mustang. You just don't have the same confidence with the steering feel and going fast in corners as you do with the 370z. That's my assessment

and that's because american cars are not refined for track use only they are meant to be driven fast and no turns don't get me wrong i own a gt500 2012 and is a blast to drive it but my 370 nismo eats it on the track with the eyes closed and the hands tight together.

Just drive economically. That really makes more of a difference than all the other numbers. As long as you shift early, a car should never ever empty it's gas tank to fast. Top Gear UK even proved that a Jaguar is more eco than eco-cars like the prius

so.. example.. 3rd gear.. 6000 rpms.. approaching a corner.. going into 2nd, even after braking, will put you into say 5500 rpms. you brake to slow down, clutch to downshift, but you gotta also throttle to rev-match, or else when you clutch back in at 5500 rpms you'll get that syncho/engine drag pull and turn into the corner out of control. that's why you have to heel/toe, to use all 3 pedals at once.

I own a 2006 nissan 350z and I don't agree with what he said about the 350z being out of line with the rest of the series. Last time I checked the 350z was the successor to the 300zx and I hate to tell you this, but the difference between the 300zx and 350z is slim. Basically the 350z is a modernized version of a 300zx with more common trends of car build styles. So it would be inaccurate to say the 350z is not comparable with the whole series. Sounds like the reviewer has a slight bias.

Haha. BMW is a great sports car. It's funny that you mention weight. My 06 350Z weighed 3300 lbs exactly and my M3 weighs 3420. My M3 would run circles around my 350Z. Any track, any day. And I have leather, navigation, sunroof, back seats, and a lot more creature comforts that my basemodel 350Z did not have. So much for a pure sports car. Granted, my 350Z was a great sports car. The M3 is just on another level when compared to Z's. And it should be as it costs double the price.

No a stang with less than 1K on mods will not do that. I also find that the least mature so called "car enthusiasts" are the ones who care about the numbers the most. I also find it stupid that you think 4.5 to 60 is slow, especially considering the 30k starting price. It is EXACTLY on par with the new stang GT even though it has 90 LESS HP. I don't understand how you cannot possibly find that impressive.

Theres a reason a lot of people have mustangs compared to the Z. The Z isnt that great compared to how much it costs. the mustang is great for how much it costs. and since the mustang ranges from 22k-85k theres so many options. the reason its been around almost 50 years.

But if someone is solely thinking HP and torque, well the 370 certainly has it. My G has a little of 300HP..not sure I need more cuz its darn fast.

Get a used G37 sedan . Best of both worlds . Same hp and you can do road trips . Almost the performance because of wt difference.

Great review, but "looks like the modern maturation of the 240?" Please! You surely aren't a true Z enthusiast. The last true Z car was the 280ZX, unless you're more hardcore than even I, in which case you'll often hear the last was the 280Z. In either case, most agree the Z became something else altogether with the 300 in 1984. When those ice cream scoop headlight extensions disappeared, the coffin was nailed shut for the Datsun/Nissan Z. All others are great cars, but *not* Zs.

You don't buy either a Mustang or Z for their trunk space... That should be a given right from the start. Same goes for gas. You don't buy sports cars for the frills but for the thrills. In my eye, it comes down to preference. Are you a Japanese car enthusiast/tuner or an American muscle head. And as for the supporting American jobs: you would be surprised to find out how many American cars can trace parts or even entire cars to China/Japan.
