I'm personally loving the S-mode.... i've driven a manual for about 2 years now, but i still haven't really gotten the hang of heel-toe rev match downshift. when i drove my buddy's 370z and used the "training wheels" as Brian so endearingly referred to the S-mode, i fell in love at the first downshift! this is a perfect option... for someone like me who can't downshift properly, and if you're a purist who doesn't want/need it you can simply disengage S-mode. win/win!

Maybe the Boxster but I haven't driven the latest model. Lame electronics, nannies, cup holders, and automatic-everything devices have plagued automotive industry that is catering to the yuppie generation. Sad times. Actually, a turbo 4 would also give the car more low-end torque as well. Just look at the incredible torque curves of the 2.0T engines in a new Audi or BMW. They make max torque just off idle and hold that maximum past 4000 rpm. That's excellent and just what a car like this needs.

Sweet ride, but I think it's funny how much value they put on the Touring and navigation packages. They're okay, but NOT for the additional coin. A car like the Z is best enjoyed in base trim and with a manual transmission. Once you hit that 40k mark, there are just so many others out there to consider. At 33k, it's a value and that's important.

from what this guys saying, I don't think this guy will be the 370z kind of guy, but looking at the amount of people who agree with him, I think that the best thing for these people is for nissan to produce a "basic" GTR. 4 cylinder turbo with about 300 ish hp and with all the fancy gadgets taken off

I too own a 370Z but without navigation. I also think it needs more power but what I'm going to do eventually is get a twin turbo system. The first things I'm going to do is get an AEM intake, Osiris tune and an ARK exhaust. That should be good for around 370+ hp. It already is a monster, but we power freaks always want more hehe. =)
@erayne8211 жыл бұрын
Downside is cost. The VQ engine is an existing platform that they use on multiple models. To go to a turbo 4 cylinder platform, they would have to redesign an existing 4 cylinder engine, engineer a new one, or contract out for another. From a cost and performance standpoint, that would essentially turn it into an Audi TT knock off. The z-cars are like Japan's coveted muscle car. If you start screwing with it, then you'll get a backlash from enthusiasts that genuinely love this car.

i went from a 4 cyl turbo to my 370 and i dont miss the turbo lag at all lol you guys gotta understand that with a 4 cylinder, companies have to meet emission standards.. all those things they do to meet emissions kills your performance. the 370z has plenty of power waiting for you just to hit the pedal.. you don't have to rev high to spool and make power or lose boost between shifts. if you really wanna be a boss than add 8-10 lbs of boost to the vq37.. youll shit your pants

@rousseau32712 жыл бұрын
That's exactly the point. If the Australians were getting car prices that high with minimum wages like that of an area with a lower cost of living, then yes, their automotive life is hard. But because their cost of living is high, their minimum wage is high, so the high price of the cars aren't as hard to deal with as it may seem.
@emantabrizi11 жыл бұрын
The only downside to a 4-cylinder turbo would be the loss of the VQ's magnificent exhaust note. Other than that, you get a lower curb weight, better weight distribution, and just as much (if not more) horsepower.

Joseph Vaiana I'm actually going towards a 1994 MK4 TT Supra haha. I'm looking for something more of a project car now rather than a daily. How is this car for an everyday driver? i was looking at a mini coupe JCW but im worried about the bad reliability ratings
@coldinfusion11 жыл бұрын
Its good I own one. I drive it everyday including winter. Yea that's right winter. With a proper set of tires you'll be fine in snow. The trunk is actually pretty big for the car. It hold a ton of stuff. Just be sure to not put anything tall in the trunk or it will hit the window. Long rides might get uncomfortable because of the sports seat but still not bad. 2 seats is not very practical but I rarely ever need more than 2 seats. The engine is solid. Reliable. I don't know where you heard its unreliable. But this is a Nissan and it has a well known and solid engine. It will run forever as long you do basic maintenance (oil change, coolant).
@ThePugShinobi11 жыл бұрын
coldinfusion Okay, thank you this helps a lot. I was actually referring to the MINI JCW in terms of poor reliability, Edmonds has them a 2/5 and i hear a lot of mechanical failures occur commonly, the Nissan was rated a 4/5 in terms of reliability. I currently own a 2004 BMW 325i and its got about 130,000 miles on it so Im about due for a new car (my service light is on 24/7 nowadays). If I went for the 370z it would be my only car so I wanted some feedback on how well they work for daily driving to work and college, I dont need to carry too much just my bookbag and my brother to school haha and basic maintenance will not be a problem, i've experienced a fair share of maintenance with my current 04 325i -_- thanks again!

I've had my 370 for almost 2 years now, and it's been nothing but reliable, and that's with me tracking the car so it sees a lot of redline. I have a separate winter car though.. But that's only cuz I personally don't want it seeing salt. I don't know about the JCW, but I have 3 friends who own minis (2 base 1 S) and ALL 3 of them has seen nothing but issues! Brakes, fluid leaks, transmission, etc. I would totally stay away.

The GT-R has 6 cylinders, and it is easily faster than the IS-F. Also it isn't that far behind from the LFA which is like 4 times the GT-Rs price. Not saying V8s and V10s aren't great, but Japanese manufacturers are usually able to use less to get more.

I bet the people trolling on the Z have never driven one. It's a blast. It's way too over-priced though and cramped.
