they are called card sleeves. they serve many purposes. 1) they make it easier to shuffle the cards without damaging them. 2) they make it harder for people to mark their cards 3) it protects the cards from being damaged by things like shuffling and normal wear and tear.

He played the land Twilight Mire which is a filter land. it works like this, you tap a land for green or black and then Twilight Mire and you have a choice to create either BB, GG or GB.

another fact is core set and innistrad dual lands have a triggered ability that unless you control a certain land type(plains, island, swamp, etc.) they come in tapped, so in three color decks dropping a shock land makes all those lands come in untapped which speed up those decks dramatically

Also some interesting fact about the player's background, like if they were working with other finalists, who developed the deck concept in the first place, and also speculation on how their sideboards could interact with their opponent is very informative and improves viewer's experience. Which this is my point of view, and im not being negative, just offering constructive criticism.

Little advice to one of the commentator's, you don't need to say every little thing that happens, we can see that going on. What is helpful is insight on the player's hand, relevant deck information to a situation(i.e. # of copies of a certain card in a deck), and possible plays they could make during a lengthy turn. That kind of commentating is informative and improves the experience of a viewer, rather that listening to someone tell a story of the match as we watch.

Jund remains formidable even if it dipped in terms of raw power (bloodbraid elf) it was replaced with an equally good utility card== deathrite shaman. Jund was suffering for so long when it has less than 4 lands, jund can now consistently its mana up with deathrite shaman and can dish out a variety of powerful 4 cc cards.

Can someone explain something to me? At the beginning of Game 2, Paulo attacks with his two Kird Apes for 4 damage. However, he doesn't seem to "control" a forest at that point. How then do the Kird Apes get pumped to 2/3 creatures? Perhaps I misunderstand what "control" means?

It's true though I think the deck is strong enough to be able to find something else as a drop in that will just continue to work. I was thinking about taking out the kitchen finks with messenger's and then bloodbraid for huntmasters. Huntmaster doesn't give you the same card draw advantage but huntmaster will gain you 2 and give you 2 different 2/2 creatures one with the slight possibility of becoming a 4/4 trample with a little tacked on damage.

Blood Crypt is far superior. A rakdos guildgate is simply a dual land that comes into play tapped. A Blood Crypt is a shock land, it comes into play tapped or untapped if you pay 2 life, it can also be searched for with cards that say "search your library for a mountain or swamp card" in that circumstance you could get a blood crypt, mountain or swamp.
