Very good investigative work, Matt!! How about replacing those o-rings with RTV silicone sealant? Your thoughts?

Thank you! yeah it had to stop in the middle of this one and rethink the diagnosis because I could see that there is probably way more gremlins in it than what any one can see I.E. this destroyed the engine but we wouldnt know until we installed the new rad and water pump and tried to start it.

@@MattShaughnessy6 What a shame & shitty design. + they have NO temp. gauge just idiot lights, now I'm worried I have a 2019 wondering if same design or not, I've been worried about this car for awhile now. I did get it new, yet overall think I should've never given up my last Toyota & think it's time to go back to one. Are you located in the North East? Nice work, thanks for the video

How can so much oil get into the coolant through that PCV elbow considering the coolant system is pressurized and the PCV system is under slight vacuum and it's only oil mist? Something doesn't add up... 🤔

The kid.....Yes "kid" who drove this likely had no idea and didn't pay attention to the fac that his car was overheating. I say over heating because the end result was a seized engine full of blue metal ( I still have the engine in my shop and will keep it for awhile just in case ;).

Hey i beleieve i am having the same problem. So with the temp sensor being coated with that slime not having the temp gauges illuminate. Should the radiator still gurle into the reservoir of its overheating??

What was the end result here? I fear my 2015 has a similar issue. I’m seeing oil in the coolant reservoir.

This engine was severely overheated and seized up. I found sludge in the heater core and the trans cooler.

I've been finding a bit of oil in my coolant lately on my 2011 forester. I know its not the same engine but would this possibly happen too? just looking for anything thats not a headgasket hehehe

EJ motors also have the same pcv union, so yeah, it could be.

That engine is toast it was driven overheated. The oil contamination is the least of their troubles. Fix your cars people before they get this bad
