2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 RAM foglight fix

Are the foglights on your 13-16 RAM 1500 flopping around loose? Mine were. So I pulled them out and got them tightened back up. Here is how I did it.

I just repaired my 2015 Ram lights. I went to Ace Hardware and purchased (4) 1/2" i.d. nylon bushings. They are 5/8: o.d and about 1/2" tall. They fit the "stud" protrusion on the light unit perfectly. I then took a rat tail file, and CAREFULLY rounded out the elongated holes in the mounting brackets. MAKE CERTAIN you go slowly filing the bracket holes. You want a TIGHT press fit when you fit the bushings into the bracket. put the bushings into the bracket so they are flush on the inside edge of the bracket. Place the bracket back on the light with the bushing pushed down onto the light "stud", take a hot glue gun, and carefully GLUE the nylon bushing to the bracket around the OUTSIDE of the bushing. allow the repair to cool completely. Reinstall the spring/stud adjuster so you can adjust the light once installed back into the front bumper. TOTAL COST $2.00 for the bushings and less than one stick of hot glue. Works like a brand new light. Hope this helps someone else.

I just did mine at 286,000kms and the adjustments were seized anyway so I hot glued it all together solid, I ran out of jb weld and this worked great

Nice! I may Silicone mine. This has been annoying me. Thanks! I found a couple of G22 O Rings and put them on the posts of the fog light housing and snapped the bracket back on. Just as sturdy as yours turned out.

You all do realize that there’s a tab at the bottom of the fog light assembly that you just screw tighter? The spring that you see on the backside provides the tension. It just needs to be screwed a few threads tighter. Easy day. Edit: he actually references the adjustment tab that I’m talking about at 9:49 minute mark.

40k and mine started on my 16. I think I'll mix up some JB weld and just goop it into that post and hole assembly. If I don't like that, I'll look for some aftermarket led's on Amazon. Thank you for the video.

I fixed and it still works using shrinkable tubing .700 diameter and it fixed it completely

I used plastic framing shims. Trimed to length and wedged between the bulb housing and adjusting bracket.

Aftermarket housing includes LEDs with drl. Under $200 for superior look and function. Adjustable aswell

We have 3 rams in the family same year timeframe you are referencing. All have this issue. Max care warranty doesn't want to cover it. It's my 3rd time at the dealership in 3 years for this repair.

My 2016 started doing this on a trip, while new. I tightened the adjuster, just a few turns and the flopping stopped. If you do not catch it right away, it will start to wear, from the movement.

ngl, I was skeptical. I zippie tidied from a different spot but it's holding after a week of driving. I'll probably forget about it and not order upgrades and the zip ties will break at the worst time. Oh well. Thanks for the hack.

both of mine are doing it with only 30k miles on it and 1 1/2 years old.....I'm going to try to get the dealer to replace them maybe next week. Out of warranty I would either use some silicone or some epoxy to make the fix.

Epoxy is pretty "final", don't you think? What if you needed to replace only one of the two parts. Epoxied, and you're setting yourself up replace both, no?

Just use electrical grommet that you would use to run wires through a metal firewall. It will stop the Peg and the whole from eating each other

Shrink tube the posts and pop the bracket back on. It should solve the problem too.

I have the same issue with my 15 Outdoorsman. Are you still able to adjust the lights after the repair, or do you make sure they are properly adjusted then add the ziptie?

Thanks for asking! Yes the adjustments worked like normal after add-on bff the zip tie. As I disassembled the first one completely I had to do an adjustment after I put it back together. No issues.

I just did this last week and 1) you can still adjust them and 2) when I put them back in they were adjusted perfectly. If you do it, save some time and just pop the light housing out with a screwdriver so it looks like 03:19 and put the zip tie on and snap back together. No need to mess with the adjustment mechanism.

I have a 2018 ram not even a year old, 7k miles..1 side is doing that now dealership is clueless looked at other rams at service area, said they had same issue so must be just how the ram is....didnt fix cause they dont know how...
