Hi Chen. Have you experienced that the key cannot be read and also cannot used to open and close the unit? It happened also together with the Head unit not turning off.

Yes, it recently happened, it won't recognize the key fob, I changed the battery in key fob, still not working. Then used the second key, it worked. But after that it happened several times too again. One time it won't recognize both keys. Took it to Mazda dealer, they charged $195 to run a diagnostic, they said nothing was wrong. It's kind of worrisome. It happened after the shift switch was replaced though.

I've been having the radio stay on like this, but I've also had the radio presets reset like the battery has been disconnected. I don't know if it is a start button issue or related to this?

It actually possibly could be the cause, after I got this switch fixed, I installed a dash cam, it constantly draws power, I didn’t think the amount would be significant, but apparent it is, I started to have radio resets and couple of times it doesn’t recognize the key fob. After removing the dash cam, everything was fine . Maybe this car does need the battery voltage above certain threshold, I’m just guessing.

This is what I do. Push shifter to the left with a little pressure and turn off. It's been working for me.

I had no clue this was an issue until my 2013 started doing it. I wish Mazda would have fixed it instead of having to pay someone to do it

Probably not, if not turning on , it’s probably caused by something else

@@chenlaoding i read cx5 had a lot of issues and needed to change the radio so id just buy a used one i guess. As for shifter ill change the part too. Thr car is so nice and it has these issues

I put it in gear then back into park and rev the engine slightly right before pressing the button again. Sucks but it’s been working for me.

Worked for me. I had replaced the battery and was good and then one day battery was dead and I also noticed the key fob would not work to lock or unlock it. After I did this it started to work again and radio turns off

I’ve been having this problem for about a year now. If I try to do this myself, tho, I am sure I wouldn’t be able to get it back together!! 🙄
