I noticed yours is a manual so EA888 CAE engine. What happened when the pump failed on this car?

@luketc1 Soooo.... The car was sputtering between 2,000 to 4,000 rpm and it would clear mostly after 4,000 rpm. I took it to a shop and I was told the pump could be going. Basically they said it wasn't throwing enough pressure. So I replaced it but that wasn't the case. You know when you buy iridium spark plugs they come pregapped and your not supposed to gap them because you can damage the contact. Well I checked the gap on my spark plugs because I couldn't figure it out. So the spark plugs had .028, .030, .032 and .031. I gapped them at .032 which that's what is supposed to be at and that fixed the problem. What is your car doing???

@@Elnenezx12r02 Car completely died on the highway and failed to restart. I believe the fuel pump was seriously overheated, Id get it to start for a few seconds then itd die. came back with my trailer an hour later, scanned with VCDS and cleared codes and its like nothing ever happened. But it was a seriously dangerous situation on the freeway that cannot happen again. So I'm considering just replacing it. @@luketc1 Oh wow... Definitely change your fuel pump. Have you also replaced the fuel pump camshaft follower?

@@Elnenezx12r02 no but I believe based on the codes the HPFP / fuel rail code was just a symptom of losing flow on the low pressure side
