2013 BMW 528i Fuel Consumption Test

Doing a fuel consumption test in a BMW 528i (MY 2013 / F10). Aim of this test is not to give an exact specification of the fuel consumption of this car, but to show an approximation of the fuel consumption under real life circumstances.
As the result also depends on tyres, size of the rims, road condition, weather and equipment that may alter the exact weight of the car, your personal experience may differ from mine.

This test shows only fuel consumption IN MOMENT YOU RECORD. Bmw 528i in city have 8,2-9l for 100km/h :)

Kein Problem, ich spreche auch Deutsch! Habe gestern ein neues Fahrzeug bekommen wovon ich in den kommenden Tagen neue Videos erstellen werde, also ist schon wieder etwas neues in Planung wird aber noch etwas dauern bis es hier zu sehen ist.

Very interesting video, especially because I did almost exactly the same test with my 1997 523i E39 (straight six with 170 hp, hand shifted). Speedometer 100 = 6.4, 120 = 7.2, 130 = 7.5, 150 = 8.6, 160 = 9.4. If you keep in mind, that this engine (called M52) ist released at the year 1994, it´s very impressing, that a modern R4 Turbo is only a little bit more economic. My only modification is a different rear axle (2.64 unstead 3.15), by the way.

Such comparisons are always difficult, I agree with you that it is somewhat awkward that in all these years seamingly no progress has been made. But don't forget that the current 5-series is about 150 to 200kg heavier then the E39 and that a R4-engine has to work harder then an R6-engine (there have been tests in Germany where the R6-530d was more fuel economical then the R4-525d).

is het verbruik van de 33i gelijk aan het verbruik van de 328i? want in die andere video was 335i beetje zuiniger bij 120km/h...

I have almost the same consumption values on my F10 535i, probably because of the weight. I guess the difference in economy is more visible on lighter cars such as the 3 series, 328i vs 335i.

Mine is averaging 15l/100km with 40 city and 60 hwy driving... And I don't even have a lead foot lol

Ben het met jou eens, precies hetzelfde bij de 525d, het grotere blok is toch wat soepeler en voelt solider aan (minder schakelen), jammer dat BMW deze heeft vervangen door 4-cylinders.

Instantaneous mpg is pretty meaningless. My car can show 3 mpg or 99 mpg. It's the average over a long distance that really matters.

En nog iets, een groter blok accelereerd beter door op hoge snelheden. Een maat van me had een 2008 Passat 1.9 tdi 105pk Bluemotion en nu een 2012 Passat 1.6 tdi 105pk Bluemotion Technology. Hij vind dat de 1.9 TDI beter ging door accelereren op hogere snelheden.
