For anyone thinking of going for the xDrive version, if you dont live in very snowy places, it isnt worth it. Its more expensive and weighs more, thus is less efficient, which isnt the real complaint, anyone who buys these cars shouldnt care, but the drivetrain loss is bigger, meaning except for the first 10 metres, the RWD one is alot faster, and additionally way more fun to drive, and BMWs should always be driven RWD, try it out at the dealership, but this is definitely what I think is right.

I've never enjoyed BMW videos but after a couple of them watched on YT I'm starting to think that they are doing a very good job on these cars, seem to be funny, technological, comfortable and safety cars there aren't a lot of cars with these settings then it seems it doesn't consume a fortune that's PROBABLY because of its new fuel-management system on V8 models and so on. SO Thumbs up!!!

Yeah that sound is from the run flat tires. Swap them for a set of Hankook Ventus V12 max performance and you'll love it.

I say this whenever I can: The steering wheels on the 7-series could not look any more dull. It looks like it says "shut up and drive worker! No luxury for you!" to the (quite possibly hired) driver.

when you compare this and the s-class to the LS460 you find that the Lexus offers so much more for the money. the base LS has a V8 with 385hp compared to the A8 3.0, 740, and S350's V6.

1:48 That annoys the life out of me, how the transmission just "lets go" and the rpm falls to idle. It makes it so awkward when you get back to accelerating, because the revs have to go back up, and usually there's a decent jerk in the car that accompanies it. Anyways ... great car, great video, thanks!

ExactlyPrecisely Is that the coasting function (engine disconnected if you take off feet from pedal) in Eco Pro mode? At 1:55 engine revs back to prev RPM smoothly!

Eighties isGold When the engine disconnects from the wheels you have to idle ... which burns fuel. If the engine stays connected, you can cut the fuel and ignition ... which saves fuel. Also, this is both a BMW and at the time was a very new car. Of course it will be smooth. But as it ages, it will only get rougher.

Compared to the 750li to the 740li N54 I6 is more reliable than that N63 V8 mad house, that engine is BMW's worst engine, in terms of reliability my money goes the 740li!

This Was the One! Well, the 750li version that is. Car&Driver called the 750li a Vacuum Chamber at 70mph back in 09' Luxury Sedan Comparo. Quiter than All the competition! And it the Current 7series is still the quitest...check out CarWow Luxury comparo 7series vs A8 vs Sclass as He measures interior dba levels.

shbitz I'm pretty sure it's an underrated 315 HP like the power ratings of the 135i & 335i are for example. It's probably making over 350 HP I bet.

Club Bmw Amg It depends , unfortunately I've had not the chance to drive a 550i but the 750I is amazing . It feels so strong but stable at the same time . You really fell that you are the one who control the car even at high speeds . Some people claim that 550i has a better handling because of the lower weight and the smaller size but I don't think so . Every car handling is adjusted for it's weight , size, power ( and in some cases it' s adjusted for the M feature ) . So the 550 could be easier to drive in town but if you are not looking for town driving go for the 7 series , it fells absolutely amazing .

My thought is this: The car is awesome but the guy is not able to explore the engine in its full capacity due to speed limits specially in the freeways. So what's the point? Very expensive car, state-of-the-art technology and bla bla bla...nevertheless is a gas guzzler and the way he drives is annoying.

Hold on, its not a gas guzzler. the combined mpg is over 24mpg, which is about average. And acceleration is always useful on highways and streets. Plus its a save and reliable car. all of the safety features along with the convenience features and look of the car make it worth the money, if you can afford it. If not, then you obviously shouldn't buy a car worth 70,000.
