Lovely review. Just put a deposit down on a 2015 bike. Interesting footnote; due to my buying it for a substantial daily work commute, I did searches to find out how many miles these bikes have clocked up. Found a thread where a few owners had managed 200k miles - absolutely remarkable. Then one bloke posted a clip of a chap who filmed his bike clearing the 600k km mark - 375 thousand miles. Absolutely staggering. Everyone I've spoken to who has any experience with this bike rates the engine as one of the best and incredibly reliable. Looking forward to picking it up in a few days.

woow i really wish you the best! one of the best bike reviews i ever see on youtube... it's so refreshing watching someone talking like a human being and not just a wheelie monster adrenaline junkie when it comes to motorcycles!

Thanks a lot for the comment! That's exactly what rideXdrive is aiming for. Glad to know there are people out there who can appreciate a more toned down review of a motorcycle! Cheers!

Great bike for twisties and around town, but at highway speeds, the buzz in the handlebars is rough. Once you hit 4000+ RPM, the vibrations get progressively worse, making cruising at 60+ mph pretty uncomfortable. It's a shame BMW didn’t smooth out those gnarly vibes in the twin-cylinder design.

Real nice review of a really good if not understated bike. I am currently looking for one to replace my Tiger 1200 XRT that we rode through France and over the Pyrenees two up. Now my partner has her own bike and wants to tour Scotland, I have come to realise that the F800 GT is exactly what we need as I can carry everything on it so Tam can just ride. Very easy and grounded video and very well produced. Keep up the great work. Kind regards Paul (from the UK)

Hi. Thanks for this. I'm thinking of getting one to replace my 1200GS. A couple of questions - how tall are you and do think the F800GT would be comfortable for 6' 2" rider with 33" inside leg?
@ridexdrive3 жыл бұрын
I am 5'9" 32". Unfortunately, I can't honestly judge how comfortable it would be for someone 6'2". I would strongly suggest riding one, if you have the opportunity, before buying. Thanks for the comment! All the best with your decision making!

I just bought a used F800GT, I'm impressed with it's tech, comfort and styling. As with other BMW's I've owned the note of the engine isn't my favorite (best-Ducati 900 SSFE) Also, to note that this bike can be had for half of a midrange e-bike!

I'm just beginning to research this motorcycle. Are you aware of any unique or specialized maintenance requirements? The upright seating position (comfort) is very appealing to me. Thanks.

I like this bike but I've had more problems with it than all my Hondas put together. Front brake discs warped, discs and pads replaced under warranty. Computer ignition box failed, new box supplied by BMW but I had to pay for the installation. Then at 10,400 miles the front fork seals failed, I had to pay for this. And yes the bike does vibrate a lot. Over nine Hondas, one warranty claim on a broken kickstart on a 1973 CB125. My 650 Deauville's fork seals were hardly worn at 45,000 miles.

My 2013 GT forks were passing a small amount of fork oil. A friend suggested a quick , easy and cheap fix. She called the tool a "Sealmate". I bought one on eBay and followed the instructions to clear the debris causing the weeping oil. Worked like a charm. Very happy with it. The real Sealmate cost $12, but one can make a DIY tool from a plastic milk jug. It works very well also. Search KZbin how make one yourself. Every motorcycle tool kit should include one. 32,000 miles on my 2013. BMW recalled parts replaced, no charge. New drive belt at 26,000 due to a pea size sticky fresh black top rock got caught on the rear pulley and damaged the belt, but it didn't fail. I keep it as a spare and carry it with me on long trips. These GTs are great bikes.

My guess would be about 30,000 miles but not sure. Perhaps an owner or someone with long term experience can better answer your question.
