Nicely done! Enjoyed your view very much :) I'm from Malaysia and own a 2014 R1200GS but got an opportunity to ride a rented F800GS in Oregon during a business trip there. My wife and I went 2-up on a day long ride and loved it!

That's just something I was reading online where some people were having issues with the traction control not disengaging even though they turned it off... Glad to hear yours works like it should. The F800Gs is an Amazing bike!

Nice review. Watching this just before I order mine in the same color. Hadn't heard that about the ASC. Need to look in to that.

ASC can be fixed by a simple software update - just get your dealer to do it and you'll be able to switch it off.

Enjoying the bike. Getting ready for the break-in tune-up. Having the ASC installed then which, I assume, will include the most recent firmware.

It's a 16 liter or 4.2 gallon tank and figuring 50mpg you should be good for around 200 miles per tank which in my opinion is actually low for this type of bike. They now make the f800gs Adventure which has a 24 liter tank and is good for a much more reasonable 300 miles per tank! Wish mine had the larger fuel capacity.
@davidsadowski7187
@davidsadowski7187 10 жыл бұрын
A note for short riders: the F800GS Adventure cannot be lowered to 820mm (860mm is the lowest and only option). Unfortunately, I'm in this group :( and have to go for the standard version + a CamelTank to extend my range. From my experience, as long as you don't ride on a desert there is always a place to fill up your tank. Actually, you get more places to do it outside the EU (petrol stalls every few kms). We rode 125cc scooters with 1 gallon tank capacity across SE Asia carrying only 0.5L spare bottle and it wasn't a problem if you plan your trip well.

***** I agree about the fuel.. but the ugliness of the adventure outweighs that for me.

Nice review and I am glad you are happy with your bike choice. You really can't list the weight as a negative. You know it going in and that's what you get when you get a dual sport/adventure bike. I have a V-Strom but definitely would put the 800 as a new bike to look at. Stay Vertical!!

Nice review dude, I have one the same colour that I use on and off road too. I'm only a 5ft 8, so I do find if the going gets slippy the weight makes it a handful and hard work. But for a combination of road and light trail use it's great, I just wish it was 50 kgs / 100 pounds less in weight! Can't have everything I suppose! Cheers.

'can't help thinking it gives you the worst of both worlds - too heavy to be a good off-road bike, and not great on the bitumen with that dinky little windscreen giving you no buffet protection at top speed on the M1, and that skinny little knobby front tyre giving poor handling around winding country/mountain roads, which is the most fun type of riding for me. And on top of that, for what you pay for it you could buy a Ninja for the mountain roads and a dirt bike for the off-road stuff. Am I missing something?
@Temptation_Offroad
@Temptation_Offroad 10 жыл бұрын
I already have a 06 Yamaha r1 and a 03 Yamaha Wr450 dirtbike. Figured I needed a bike I could drive down the highway to get to the offroading places. Oh and I put on a taller windscreen, absolutely amazing now. Check out my channels for videos of all the above.
@MrBlompod
@MrBlompod 9 жыл бұрын
Tony Cook Yeah I sometimes agree with that, I read somewhere a dual sport bike is like a car that goes on the water, makes for a shit car and a shit boat and I understand the get the ninja for the road and a ktm 250EXC for the dirt, but that said what if you want to go distance on the trails and go for a real adventure and camping etc, you have no other option but one of these bikes, hence they're called adventure bikes and I think they do incredibly well with all they are asked to do..... :o)
