I actually found a 2013 r1200gs with only 5000 miles on it… it’s practically brand new but I trades a Goldwing dct for it… the goldwing is an amazingly comfortable bike but the wieght got old fairly quickly…. I have not looked back except for the farckles I put on the goldwing.. oh well another project this bike has been amazing to get use to and I’m looking forward to a nice spring and summer of riding fun… ride safe..

That’s a Beautiful Bike. I’m a Disabled Veteran and have 4 Fusions in my Neck and 2 in my lower Back. I can’t afford a newer GS, so I ride my 2006 GS. I actually traded a Harley for it. I tried a lot of different Bikes, and the GS is the only Bike I can ride and not hurt. I can’t even drive my Truck very far without hurting. I can ride the GS for Miles without getting in Pain. It’s so comfortable and the sitting position is perfect for my Back. I can’t really do the tricky off road stuff I used to Love. I live in the Country and have to go down a lot of dirt roads to get to Pavement. The GS is perfect for it. I Love it. Maybe one Day I will be able to upgrade to a newer GS, but for now I’m very happy. New Subscriber and really enjoyed the Video.👍❤️

Glad you enjoyed the video & thank you for your service, a lot can be said for someone with disabilities who still ride, takes some serious strength to keep riding. I think one of the best things about the GS range is that we never have to rush for a newer model because they don't change much other than the new tech

good on you, I had a stroke left side is stuffed, but clutching is easy on the 2013 and i mount cowboy style, which I only just learned of

Joey, TheMissendenFlyer did a review on an '06 GS and had good things to say about it. Does'nt matter so much what you ride, as it does to enjoy the ride. Thank you for your service. Ride safe.

You are first to comment on it 🤣 It's always tickled me to be wearing it while riding a GS 🫣 But in reality it was the lovely mesh that was appealing on such a hot day

Good one Mate, Hope you are convinced by the GS now as I know you had some reservations when you were thinking of a new Bike, they do so many things well, cliche I know, but it really is the Swiss Army Knife of Motorcycling ...

This is a great review covering all the real world stuff we need to know. I’m planning on changing my old k1200r for one of these and look forward to watching your videos. Can I ask your height, I’ll possibly have to search out a lowered chassis model but not before test riding the standard height model. Keep up the good work!

Hi Simon thanks for the kind words ☺️ I'm 5'8 and I manage to have to preload on medium height, it really surprised me how easily I could stand strong with this bike. Hope this helps

good one.. I am looking at one 2013 Gs1200 with 125K KMS ( 78k miles) on the odometer. Do you recommend ? It has all maintenance record from BMW, asking price 12,000 Canadian dollars (about 8000 GBP or 9000 USD) .. seeking your kind advice.

Hey, if it is well looked after these machines can last for many many miles but what I will add is that if buying from a dealership I know in the UK they come with warranty to ensure your investment is protected, I'm not sure about the laws in Canada but getting the warranty for what is some what a high mileage bike is a must. These bikes really do hold the value well and for great reason Hope this helps ☺️

just bought the zack same bike, with 36000km on the clock, it is immaculate, yet to ride it, last bike was a k1200gt, nowhere near as nimble, big rock moto has an excellent spiel on all the gs models from 04 to 2022, he says that the 2013 was THE year

Hello. Love the GS, good video, but... Please use the ND filter correctly on your gopro, meaning they are meant to be used with manual settings in the camera (protune) and not auto, your exposure is constantly changing. If you shoot 4k 30fps then your shutter speed needs to be on 1/60 (double the frame rate) to get nice motion blurr. Set max ISO to 200 on a sunny day and 5500K white balance so the colors stays the same throughout the video, put on the ND16, it worked for me nicely. Watch some how to set gopro videos, loads of good info out there.... Only trying to help so please don't be offended....keep them coming...all the best
@triplelock
@triplelock 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the helpful advice I'm certainly not offended as you can see videography is something that I'm learning rather than riding motorcycles 🤣 I actually shoot in 2.7k @60fps I have adjusted the shutter speed accordingly and the ISO to 200 but the white balance is not something I attempted only because I'm not so familiar with it and oddly enough the Nd filter I have on is nd16 and I got all that from another motovloggers settings, do you think it's the white balance being on auto causing it to change so much? Thanks for taking to time to help ☺️
@MidlandCruiser
@MidlandCruiser 2 жыл бұрын
@@triplelock happy to help. The WB won't change the darkness (exposure) of the video, the shutter speed and ISO will. The WB only changes the colors, nothing else. Running 60fps makes it a little darker because the camera has less time in a second to capture the light/frame, if you don't slowing it down then use 30fps and set the shutter to 1/60 or 1/(2xfps). Always test which ND filter will be good for that day before you go out. Some day with the same camera settings you'll need an ND8 not 16 if it's a little overcast. I recommend checking out "Stewart and Alina" youtube channel they explain everything about cameras and very easy to understand, lot better than I do, and showing examples to see what happens if you change stuff.... Lastly if you don't want all this hassle then just use everything in auto except the WB but you won't get the motion blurr.. All the best

Just bought one of these so after a bit of help please Heard they were clunky on the gearbox well mine goes into gear without a single clunk but in first and second gear seems to be like an old land rover with play in the drive shaft once in 3/4/5/6 as smooth as they come is this normal or have I just bought a lemon ???? Oh its a 2005 model !!
@triplelock
@triplelock Жыл бұрын
The gearbox is a tad "agricultural" more so through 1st and 2nd but that being said I've just had the drive shaft recall done and BMW swapped it out since then certainly feels a lot more responsive Unfortunately I can't say anything about the 05 model exactly having not owned one but could be the drive shaft needs a refresh with fresh grease and gear oil Hope this helps

Hi, I have a 2006 and believe it or not. I don’t have any clunking or agricultural feel at all on mine. I got it used though, and I don’t know what the previous owner might have done.

I'm just bought Honda xl125 varadero after passing cbt 2 weeks ago. Loving it very much. Whatever the weather taking it instead of a car. But looking already through vids with gs 😅. Planning to learn through winter and do my big bike test next summer and go for exactly bike like yours. 2013- 2017. Nice work. Subscribed 👍

Any issues with the 2013 GS through the years. I'm considering buying a 2013 R1200 with the 50k on the dial, should I be worried about the workshop bill I might get slapped with cuz of the high mileage? Thanks
@triplelock
@triplelock Жыл бұрын
Mine is on 40k at the moment and so far still really strong and no signs of it giving up and many folk have said that if looked after, they can last for upwards off 100-200k miles But bare in mind that BMW are on the more expensive side for repairs so if the previous owner hasn't kept up with services and maintenance then expect the bill to be of ample amount Hope this helps

Hows the maintenance been on the bike since you've had it?
@triplelock
@triplelock Жыл бұрын
Hi miles, maintenance is much easier on these machines because of the locations of the rocker covers so valves & plugs much less of a chore to get to, also given that it's shaft driven no chain and sprockets to change but you still have to keep up with maintenance of the final drive Hope this helps 🙂
