My '14 Challenger RT has the 3.92 rear gear so at 70 i'm at ~1800 rpms. My mileage on hwy is more like ~23. I drive around town in 5th and 1500 rpms. YMMV depending on gear selection. Love the 6 spd as well.

A family member has had his Redline Ralley for over a year + now and loves it even though it has the v6. I didn't realize there was an R/T model with this incredible looking package available.. Definitely gonna look for this trim package when I shop for one. Thanks for a great review and the only thing I wish you would've covered is a quick walk around and maybe quick scan of the interior so I can see what all differences the R/T redline has vs. the Ralley redline. Thanks! Subscribed.

Nice vid! I have a 13 R/T Plus six speed and love it. The Tremec TR6060 is so fun, and the sound of that Hemi is second to none. The only issue with your video is the lack of exterior shots... The Challenger is hands down the best looking and most true looking of the pony reissues, by far. All is all though nice job. I enjoyed watching

Excellent review BlogOfSpeed ! This is the best manual trans R/T review out there. I was debating this car over the MustangGT (same year) but having trouble trying to find one on a dealer lot to test drive.(manual) Since I drive literally 90% highway and a fairly long work commute I'm leaning towards Challenger. Thank you so much!

Great review on your own experience with this ride. I'm planning a purchase in the near future and the Challenger seems to be the top choice between the Mustang and Camaro. The Hemi is the way to go with the 6 speed tranny. Just spied a '13 model year R/T with short mileage, dealer asking 26k for it. It's got about 5k miles on it. Just might have to do it !

Honestly, that's a really tough choice. From a performance standpoint, the 5.0 is on top. There are a few caveats though. As much as I love the live axle in the GT, you can tell it's there over uneven bumps in the road. The Challenger's IRS soaks up the bumps a bit better than the Mustang. I honestly think the Challenger looks and acts more like a true muscle car, while the GT is more leaning towards sports car. Go drive them and figure out which one suits you better. They're both GREAT.
@markurbancowboy10 жыл бұрын
The SRT8 Challenger (not including the Hellcat) does not have 100ft-lbs more torque than the RT, that's the only thing you got wrong. Otherwise good review.

+BlogOfSpeed People on here don't realize that even though you have cars like the gt500 with 662hp and the ZL1 with 580hp theres something called bhp (brake horsepower) and that's the horsepower that is efficiently put to the back tires, not just dyno numbers. I've driven a stock SRT8 challenger against a gt500 and gave him a run for his money. No I didn't win but remember that the 6.4 hemi is naturally aspirated where as the ZL1 and gt500 both have supercharged engines
@Blogofspeed10 жыл бұрын
karson cardoza If bhp is horsepower at the back wheels, it IS a dyno number essentially (though all dynos vary between each other etc). I'm not sure what you're trying to get at, but I imagine it's traction related, and yes, having 1000hp does nothing if you can't put it down. The general problem with the blower cars is they can heat soak (the Chevy has a big problem with this, ZR1, ZL1, CTSV) and not make good power because they need to pull timing/boost because of intake air temps.

I'm thinking about getting one of these, but I'm waiting on the 2015 model before going on test drives. I have one stupid question. When you drive the manual, can you leave your heel on the floor while using the clutch in this car, or does the travel go up too high?
@Blogofspeed10 жыл бұрын

Hey Bro I'm confused Between 2014 Challenger R/T Classic and 2014 Mustang V6 Premium Convertible ...Wch one is better according to u? Plz Helppp Plzz :))
@Blogofspeed10 жыл бұрын
V8 always wins for me, however that isn't really a fair comparison. V6 convertible vs V8 coupe. I'd probably wait until I could test a 2015 Mustang GT and really compare.
@blackcrisis200410 жыл бұрын
Did u ever make up ur mind. If not, and if ur only looking at those two. I would go with the 14 RT. Its pretty quick, looks nice, an have the better interior thn both the mustang and camaro and comfort ride quality. I dont care for convertibles and will never by another again. The v6 stang looks nice and is quick, not as quick as the RT an has better gas mileage. The RT is a tq monster! The tq isnt there in the v6 stang. But all in all it depends on want ur looking for. Ride quality, interior design/comfort, power/speed, gas milage if that matters. If mpg isnt an issue skip the v6 stang an go for the RT otherwise wait to check out the new 15 stangs
@salvatorealbero71711 жыл бұрын
Would the CORE editions that you refer to be the SRT/ Hemi V-8 / 470 hp / 470 tq. Tremic ,because you said 100 more hp . If so the prices start over 50k and up,and you said 39 k for the CORE model. Then for that price it would be an RT instead of SRT ?
@Blogofspeed11 жыл бұрын
The SRT8 CORE is $39,XXX before destination and delivery. It ends up being $40,485 with destination and delivery. The normal SRT8 model is $45,685. The model I had was . There are no CORE RT models available. (these are US prices) The model I had was a pretty heavily loaded RT Redline. Would a loaded SRT8 be more money? Sure! But would I rather have a no options core with a stick and 470hp? Any day of the week!
@WGPmetallica10 жыл бұрын
I've been looking at both for a while, you can get a really comfortable, luxurious, loaded up, and sporty RT for the price of a core SRT. It's such a tough call because the gas and insurance savings on the RT really adds up to a little more than just a $3000 difference. Tough tough choice for a car guy.
@Blogofspeed10 жыл бұрын
Corey H For me it's no choice whatsoever. Hands down the SRT all day, more horsepower and brakes and suspension wins out for me. I completely understand where you're coming from though. The lovely thing is you can probably get a year old SRT for the same money. Apples and oranges, I know, but the 392 hemi is that much better!
@WGPmetallica10 жыл бұрын
I don't doubt that it is but it would have to be a daily driver for me. Between insurance and fuel (and tires haha) the SRT even used is just slightly out of reach.
@Blogofspeed10 жыл бұрын
I hear you, it's tough to justify especially if you do a lot of city miles. I will say that the RT and SRT will probably get fairly similar mileage in actual use. I'd be curious about the insurance difference, I've never looked into it!

BlogOfSpeed I agree with you 100% about the manual over automatic. The manual just seems to get on the power quicker and there's nothing like the feeling of having your foot to the floor and your head pushed back into the headrest while you hold on to the steering wheel with one hand and you row the gears with the other all the while hearing that HEMI make some down right demonic noises.

Torch is very weak, engine is weak, and so is the RPM. Muscle cars are performance cars. Camaro and mustang do what they were built to do...
@Blogofspeed11 жыл бұрын
I couldn't disagree more. Historically muscle cars were never precise corner-carvers and making them into that is sacrilege in a way. The Challenger FEELS like an old proper muscle car, and therein lies its charm and difference from the other two. I don't see how 370hp is weak, nor do I see how a big V8 with powerband NEEDS to rev higher. That being said, I do really enjoy driving the Mustang GT and GT500, but they're just different.

BlogOfSpeed well the camaro forced ford to push/improve the mustang. The new challengers or still now faster than the 4.6L 2010 mustang. Muscle cars has always been about going fast in over powered motors in rear wheel, simple bulky cars that was easy on the pockets. Any my friend, the numbers has always been at the top of the list whn investing in these cars, unless u are getting the 4 (back . In the days) or 6 cylinder. Why do u think so many ppl take thm to the track. Im more of a mustang guy myself, but will take a challenger or charger over a camaro. In fact, whn the wife say I need to get a family car, im be investing in a srt8 charger.

+Esteban Gomez This car is DIFFERENT than a mustang. Mustang is a pony car. Challenger is a muscle car. Big, heavy, a little ridiculous, but still v8 and great. On the horsepower front, these numbers are getting crazy and normal drivers can't handle them responsibly. This car not having a limited slip is a little bit of an issue, but it's still very good.
