2013 Explorer XLT 2.0 Growling Noise & Vibration Part 1 of 2

For the past several months I noticed that the Explorer was making a growling noise and some vibration when I would accelerate, so I finally took it to a transmission shop to get it looked at. They checked it out and told me that the transmission mount, the engine mount and the torque mount all needed to be replaced. I'm going to replace them and see if that fixes the issue. Stay tuned.

Are those three parts where I can learn to do it myself? woman on limited income I have to do things energy things for myself. I just purchased this vehicle two months ago in 2 days ago see where was growling really bad and he was trying to sell on me but like you said if you step on the gas I need to go but when I got up the hill where I was going and it was very slight Hill soon as I turn the car off and had a lot of steam it seemed like it wasn't smoke but just barely but steam coming out of the radiator in front of the engine what does that mean

Unless you have the proper hydraulic jack and tools, I really wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. I only changed out the transmission mount located under the battery myself. The worse one was the engine mount located on the passenger side of the engine. It was the main one causing all the noise. As for the steam, you may have a radiator leak. Check the coolant level and make sure it's not low. A radiator leak can be anywhere from a bad drain plug to a crack anywhere on the radiator itself.

Hi.. I have a explorer 4x4 2014 and shaking when go only on 4 or 5 gear and we remove the rear shaft and nothing, we change the oil trans and nothing just shaking when go in automatic and manual selection. Only on 4 to 5 gears. Thanks.

Yeah, same thing with mine. I just changed my passenger side mount now I need to change my driver side and the transmission.

Hi Gary, one small question I have Ford Explorer 2017 with Turbo 2.3 Engine. Is this sound is Turbo sound? Same sound in my vehicle along with small vibration while slow the car near to the signal. Any idea about the issue

Did it almost feel as if the engine was shaking ? I have a 2015 explorer v6 non 4x4.

Yeah, if you feel and hear vibration when you accelerate, then that's probably it. Although, I'd do some research on the V6 Explorer. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the V6. Hi Gary my explorer sounds exactly the same and mechanic told it’s the motor mounts. But what’s a good price for repair ?? He’s charging $800 for repair. Thank you for video and reply

800 bucks is absolutely ridiculous. You could change out the transmission mount located under the battery yourself, and the one underneath the transmission as well, then get someone to change the motor mount. That's what I did, although the engine mount probably couldn't be that hard to do. I'll see if I can find a video that'll help you.

Heyy Gary, I Have A 2017 Ford Explorer 4cylinder turbo, it makes noise in the engine while stepping on it as soon it passes like 2 gears it stop. It sound something like yours..

Not sure what the engine configuration is in that model but chances are that it may be a bad motor mount. Good luck.

Ive been looking at your ford explorer videos and it literally has the same 3 problems as your , the pillar came off on the passenger side idk if that would be right or left, turbo went out , 1 motor mount is out and thr stupid camera works when it wants 2 😂

Hi Kimberly, the 3 different mounts alone probably cost around 2 to 3 hundred dollars. Labor, well that depends on the mechanic but a good estimate is probably 2 to 3 hundred dollars as well.

Btw, I made it to 150k before the noise started. The turbo and these mounts are gonna affect everyone with this setup, so thanks for the post

@@garysanchez4123 Changed them out today, sound it gone and the harsh idle is to. The passenger side mount was totally destroyed, others were ok still, but changed anyway

THANK YOU!!! This fixed my issue! Hard vibration growling rumbling. Almost a metal to metal sound. My TRANSMISSION mount was SHOT. Replaced all mounts anyways but put the new updated trans mount. Super solid.

Heard and slightly felt near the steering column but it was actually coming from the engine and transmission mounts.
