So my car seems to be louder but maybe not necessarily with speed. Also s while ago my traction light and abs light came on and mostly stays on but has gone on and off for a short time..well when that first happened my friend told me wheel bearing? BTW I got new tires 6 months ago. Also had serpentine belt replaced replaced couple months ago

Front wheel baring is common for whirling and humming sound. Also, if your lower control arm went bad, like mine, then your wheel bearings will also be bad.

Then , I went to tyre shop, I did the alignment and wheel balancing,yet still having the humming sound. Would it be front brake? So I popped my front passanger tire on my 2018 legacy. Replaced it with the same brand tire but started to have this humming when I hit around 50mph. I'm also hearing it when I'm bending right which is toward where I feel the sound's coming from and goes away when bending left.I've had it balanced twice, aligned, and put on a lift at a shop were they said my brakes, bearrings, and suspension were good.. what could it be??? Help is appreciated

Currently trying to diagnose this in my car. The loose brake pad feels like a revelation, as my mechanic replaced my wheel bearings (they did need it, the noise decreased, but they were a small part of the noise, weirdly) and commented that one of my brake pads was worn down more, which I assume could happen if it’s not firmly in place and can rub against the rotor(?). If it’s the brake pads, should the humming noise stop while braking?

i hear a noise coming from what seems like front passenger side. i used an online tone generator to recreate the sound. it's a sine wave at around 220hz that gets louder when i speed up.

In my case there is a humming sound only between 35mph and 50mph…. If i go harder than it rides smooth. Also i have no viberation at all just the humming.. what can this cause?

Check your inner cv axle (if you have one) if not you most likely have a bad differential bearings... Or the noise comes from the back...

Hi, I changed my front brakes, bearings, and rotor and now its making a loud propeller noise and it gets louder when I speed up but when I slightly turn left it stops making noise until I straighten up my steering again or turn right it starts making noise again but it did make a little humming noise when I put on a different wheel and tire on the drivers side. You think this could be the problem? Having a different rim/tire on?? Sorrt for the long message. Thank you

I do not believe these are my problems. Closest is tire noise, I will check that in the morning. But could this be an indicator of a transmission problem. I am not having any functional problems with the tran.

I get a whistle like an old-fashioned kettle . When on the motorway doing 60-70 mph , it has done it at low speed 30mph , it doesn't do it idling so it's hard to tell where it's coming from, car has no turbo ,I'm stumped .

Humming/whining noise coming from front passenger side. Stays the same whether idling or at different rooms. Strange thing is that it disappears after lifting the hand brake just one notch. I can't think of anything related to the braking system that would make this noise while idling. 2013 Mazda 5🤔

Could bad brakes be an issue with that as well because I have humming as I speed up and I'm betting it could be a wheel bearing for sure but this does need brakes bad apparently yeah it needs brakes as I'm stepping on the break it's it should be a lot better at stopping and I'm getting a squeaking so yeah I could bad brakes be a problem with that

Is it cheaper to replace the bearing or the whole assembly (labor wise) since I am broke broke and I think I have a bad bearing and I know you need to machine press that sucker out lol

Pressing it out can be an issue. You can price check a whole front wheel knuckle for your vehicle to see which costs less. One thing to keep in mind is when the whole front wheel knuckle is swapped out usually an alignment will also be needed.

The labor isn't costly but the part is. Expect to pay around $175 per axle for the whole job . This is for a Toyota Corolla

Hey so my car makes a hum with a thud sound when going 40+mph my wheels spin freely. Btw I was also in a front end crash where the driver hit my front wheel and bent my inner tie rod, both the inner tie rod and outer were replaced and I even got new tires and alignment to try and fix it but it just kept doing it. No metallic or vibrations at lower speeds signaling it’s a wheel bearing. Now I’m leaning more towards a cv joint/ axle or the back part of the wheel bearing. Idk at this point it would help a lot to hear what you guys have to say. Thank you Edit: the sound is a thud thud thud thus not a humming sound. Thud sound is worst from 40-60 and after that it just quites down a bit but still really loud

@@theworldisyours2241it was the wheel hun assembly but after I changed it it stopped for a day or so and it started again. Turns out the bearing was defective but I ended up putting replacing with warranty. I’d go fix the whole wheel hub assembly if it’s not that then you’ll have a better driving car either way. Cv shaft is what that sounds like…grab hold of it and yank on it…if it moves at all or makes and rattling noise it’s bad
