2013 Ford C-Max misfiring heavily

Thanks for doing this, I've got some similar symptoms but was dreading pulling it apart because everything looks so oragami'd together but its not so bad as it looks. I appreciate the effort you put into doing this video, very clear and you explained your troubleshooting process well.

My cmax shakes at random times at idle and more so when switching from the battery to gas. Also I hear a low pitch "wurring" sound while the engine is on this usually happens on initial start when the hybrid battery is being charged by the gas. From my obd tool I only have one code P2401 related to the EVAP. What do you think are the issues? I think checking the injectors would be wise as well

How did get the fuel rail out, without disconnecting the fuel line ?

what was your problem and solution? i think i have the same problem, bc i accelerate and loose power. so pulled over as soon as the CEL was blinking.

Was your Ford C-Max vibrating again certain speeds? Ours only vibrates from 45-55 MPH. Then it goes away. We’ve had our drive shaft and control arms replaced, plus our tires balanced. Any ideas?

Yes it vibrates but normally a misfire issue will vibrate at most speeds and at idle. If someone replaced all that and it still vibrates you might need to take it somewhere else. Does the steering wheel shake or do you just feel a vibration? With all that replaced there's not much left other than maybe a wheel bearing, maybe a bad motor mount, something like that.

Hoopties Garage the steering wheel does not shake. It used to before they replaced the control arms, but it no longer does. We are thinking about taking it to a Ford dealer at this point.

If it's just vibration i would look closer to wheel bearings possibly, sometimes a wheel bearing can trick a mechanic and have zero play but still be bad. Does the car sound like it has a lot of tire noise as you speed up? Dealer isn't always the best option ask around in your area for recommendations I'm not saying dealers are bad but just because they are dealers doesn't mean they won't replace parts not needed etc etc. My son works at a Ford dealer and I hear daily the things that go on there

Hoopties Garage it sounds like the tire is bouncing(?) not sure that’s the right word for it. We originally took it to a tire place recommended to us by the place we purchased our Ford from. Thanks for the recommendation on wheel bearings. Definitely will look into that for sure.

If you think tire is bouncing then it could be a strut/spring issue. How many miles are on this car?

How did you crank and start the engine? It's a hybrid so it doesn't let you force start the engine by default.

If you floor the car it will start the engine and let it idle for a period of time, it won't staying running indefinitely though like a normal non-hybrid

Yes if you hold it down for a little it gas engine will start

Is there a turbo on these cars? I’ve had the engine completely out I didn’t see one but everywhere I look it says these engines are ecoboost

I honestly don't know, I don't see these cars at all they only made the hybrid a few years I believe and I don't think the hybrids used the ecoboost engine. I could be wrong though I just don't know enough about this particular car maybe someone else can jump in answer.

@@HooptiesGarage ya I don’t think so. I definitely remember pulling the manifold off and no turbo. Just wanted to do some research on the engine but don’t want to be looking at the wrong one
