2013 Ford Edge Fuel Pump Replacement

Wanted to share the quick and dirty way of replacing a fuel pump on my Ford Edge Limited 2013 3.5L V6 FWD. It's got 170k miles on the original fuel pump, and didn't mind chopping up the floor panel a bit to do the job. For this vehicle, I believe you needed to drop the drive shaft and fuel tank to do it according to the manual.
Please be careful cutting the metal, and take preventative measures to reduce likelihood of sparks. A pair of handheld tin snips was sufficient to cut through the floor panel. I believe it was about 1.5mm thick. Be careful nothing underneath gets cut, but on this vehicle there was not too much in the way that would be at risk.
Replaced with a Delphi Fuel Pump CFG1311. Sealed the metal back up with Dap Black Waterproof Roof Sealant.

Dropping the axle, etc, is the correct way to do the job. You wonder why we have a love/ hate relationship with engineers.

In Iraq, we always do that with the American cars (Ford, GM, etc..). Due to our shitty fuel, we ought to replace fuel pumps every year (sometimes twice a year), so imagine that you have to drop the axle and fuel tank twice a year to replace the fuel pump! Korean or Japanesse cars already have service-hole from the manufactures.

I may need to do soon and its hard start midday - I think it may be losing pressure somehow. I made a video on how I did the ABS module replace - crazy tough. I love my edge otherwise

@@pokeyboy1 It is cooler weather but the car starts up every single dark and early morning, but just doesn’t start like 2 times a week. It will start when jumped. I replaced the park detect switch just earlier today.

agreed _ i just had to do my Ford van and some people cut floor. Just put a jack under and cut the straps

Do you know where the fuel filter is located?

Fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly. You’ll see it once you pull it out at the bottom of the pump, looks like a rectangular mesh patch.

Looking at that I’d install a metal panel over the whole thing. You had plenty of room to cut one to size.

I considered it, but I think a flat piece of sheet metal would press against the hose connections. In the original stamped metal you can see they have it elevated by probably a good inch.

Not sure, looks like there are some other videos on KZbin for that vehicle and they look similar. If you lift up the seat you can see if there’s an access panel or plug that you can look through.
