Okay so my 2002 Audi A4 3.0 Quatro engine died on the expressway a few weeks go. I've had nothing but problems with that car for years. But it's an Audi right? It's worth it going to the garage to have it fixed all the time? Sikh of it? Totally? Well I bought myself a new gorgeous 2013 Ford escape and can't tell you how much I love it. I love the abundant state of the art technology. The styling inside and outside are superb and even the fit and finish and materials are superb. This is my first American car I'm 56 years old. I highly highly highly highly recommend it. Go Ford!

I like how this car saves me *way more* mpg on both city/hwy than the past 2 cars I have driven. My mpg slowly increases the more I drive but I use cruise control more often than by manually. Manually you can make your mph like a roller coaster which drains your gas quicker, staying at one constant speed saves gas and better fuel economy. Tell me I'm wrong but that's how it's been for me in the past month I've had this suv.

We have a 2009 Ford Escape. I love it. It looks so much better than the new ones IMO. The new "Euro" style one is ALMOST nice-looking but just misses. And the dash looks like it's trying to be the Space Shuttle or something. I hate that. I really miss my BMW X3 sometimes, that dash was CLASSY.

I test drove this car in the Sport trim... Technology wise, this thing is head, neck, and shoulders above any other competing crossover in this price range. The only issue is that at the top-end, this car is far too expensive. It drives well, and the interior is fantastic! Good car. Go test drive one if you get a chance. These things are much improved over the outgoing Escape model.
@Skipptastic30612 жыл бұрын
Definitely the best option in the Crossover segment. After test driving the Hyundai, Kia, Honda and Toyota, the Escape offered the most technology, performance and styling out of the five. You have to actually get in and drive one and not just take someone elses word from youtube. My last vehicle was a Honda CRV.
@madpistol12 жыл бұрын
The day that I wrote this I had test driven a lot of cars, and one of them had a sport trim. The actual trim I drove was the SEL model with the 1.6L ecoboost. Sorry for the confusion.

Dramatic improvement over the old one! Not an SUV guy, and will probably not buy one in the next decade, but I have to say the Escape looks good for once.
@nmcvicker0311 жыл бұрын
The edge is a great vehicle and has a much smoother ride and has more cabin space making you feel comfortable. But the escape is really nice too, and has much better fuel economy. The redesign is worlds different from the old escape. I just test drove both and bought an escape only because it was for my wife and she felt a lot more comfortable driving the edge and she drives 45 miles roundtrip a day to go to work so the escape made more economic sense for us.

How does the foot-activated tailgate thing work when the car's locked? If I'm coming out of the store with bags full of groceries, I still have to reach into my pocket to hit the unlock button, right? So even though it's cool, I'm doubting the usefulness of that feature.

The X5 definitely doesn't cost that much, but the q7 in top trim can get up to that where I live. I was more referring to a used q7 or X5 than anything. A new car will cost more.
@luisinhoens9012 жыл бұрын
CX-5 doesn't have a turbo engine (a turbo itself means at least a couple thousand bucks more) and doesn't have as many options as Escape so if you are wise and get your Escape with the right options you can get it decently priced. You may not be able to get exactly the same options in both CUVs but the more expensive Escape will get more equipment and technology, that's for sure
@brandenkhan1512 жыл бұрын
Really? What problems are you hearing about? From what I've heard MFT has been nearly flawless. It's got two Ecoboost powertrains that are best in class for fuel economy (comparing Apples to Apples). It's got an innovative way for you to open the hatch that no other competitor has, I can go on.

The problem with your logic is the fact that the features that you can get in the Escape are not the same features you can get from a lot of the competition. You can option out an Escape to have it compete on a price level with anything within it's immediate as well as above it's class. You might be able to get an Audi, Mercedes, or Volvo for around 36K but those are base models... not fully loaded ones. You do have a decent argument on your hands comparing it to a fully loaded Grand Cherokee.

Its a good little rig. Drives good bit stiff you feel the bumps. I would buy the 2.5l or the 2.0 turbo. The 1.6l turbo is plagued with the same hesitation found on the focus. The 2.5 also reads higher mpg on the info center than the 1.6 turbo. The little screen for backup camera is nice but a bit pokey bcuz the screen is so small. They should have the bigger screen standard. Its a good ride plenty of room. The rear seats recline only on se + models. But no matter which model its overpriced.

Not true. The Mazda CX-5 and the Escape are very comparable when priced for equivalent features, trim levels. The only difference is : power. While you might enjoy driving a 155 HP Mazda SUV, I would not be fully comfortable with it on the highway. The Escape is more powerful in every trim level, and it's more refined. The 1.6 Ecoboost is only 2 mpg highway less than your Mazda , with vastly more usable power and low end torque. Ford will sell of lot of these in the SE-SEL trims, which are fine.

I'll trade every single option and innovation you mentioned for a FORD that last 10 years 150K miles with absolutely no break downs other than oil change, tire changes, battery, mufflers. That was my HONDA 4 years ago. My Honda now has 200K and is now 14 years old. Past 4 years, its cost me couple of thousand but that was because of mechanic incompetents. Its time CAR CRITICS become CRITICAL and not car salesmen. BTW, I personally know FORD owners who constantly have problems.

If you want to buy this car because you love the looks and so you can haul your family to school and the grocery, get a minivan. People like you are crowding out this segment, they used to have some really nice looking, versatile cars. Look at the old CR-V, RAV-4, and escape, they used to be SPORT-UTILITY vehicles, not jacked up minivans.

Just why in the world they put front blinkers ONLY below bumper, so tiny and so low, so you not gonna see it over smallest flattest cars. If you already place them that low, why not to make also headlights side orange as signal light. I mean that would fix alot. If they wanna show smart, every car should have mandatory quality design of lights and blind spot mirrors and i'm sure many other things people can think of.
